"The first thing we realized is that they seem to be trying too hard to appear upscale, using fancy sauces and elaborate dish names. However, they attempt to offer too varied a menu, which results in a lack of quality; they can't seem to get the beef or seafood right. They're like a "jack of all trades, master of none." They really should focus on perfecting their dishes.
I ordered a NY strip steak that was incredibly tough, despite being cooked to medium-rare as requested. My wife had lobster bisque that tasted overwhelmingly fishy, which is definitely not how it's supposed to taste. We also ordered a molten lava cake, which came with ice cream. It could have been delightful, but instead of chocolate sauce, they used raspberry sauce that wasn't mentioned on the menu. For nearly $10, it was a disappointing dessert.
Coming from Toledo, we're used to having a wide range of quality dining options. This place wouldn't survive against the competition we have at home. They are fortunate to be located in a small town with little competition, which likely keeps the locals returning. Clearly, their taste buds have adapted to subpar quality. Our meal cost $106, and my wife remarked that her KFC lunch was better after she couldn’t even finish her dish.
Typically, we expect complimentary bread to be served before the meal, but that wasn't the case here. We won't be returning the next time we visit my sister's family. Never again. "Fool me once, shame on you...""
