"I'm really hoping we just had a bad experience, but we went to virgils for raleigh restaurant week. They were supposed to have a fixed menu for the event, but that was not offered nor could we find mention of it at the restaurant. When we arrived it, we were immediately greeted by what smelled like burnt paella. We asked the waitress what it was and she was unsure but agreed it was not normal. We ordered drinks, a mezcal and a oaxacan old fashioned. Both tasted mildly watered down, but were otherwise okay. We ordered the chips and queso, but were not aware nor informed that they put sugar on their chips instead of salt. This was really bizarre to me, but we tried it. Not really my bag, and wouldn't order them again. Then we tried the sopes. The masa base was great, the sauce provided was delicious, but the meat was incredibly dry. The meat being this dry didn't totally ruin the plate, but it did deduct from what was obviously a great dish when the pieces were all put together properly. We had planned to eat more, possibly trying the tacos, but at this point we were just not satisfied with what was presented. At this time I wouldn't recommend, but, as I said, maybe it was just a bad experience."

Virgils offers a fantastic dining experience. You place all your orders through a QR code link, so you don't have to worry about a forgetful server. The food is not only served quickly but is also delicious.

I was somewhat let down by our visit to Virgil's. Aside from the chips, which are truly exceptional, the rest of the food and drinks were merely average. The red salsa was too smoky, the tacos al pastor lacked flavor, and even the classic margarita tasted watered down. We were seated in a room that felt like an annex with very little ambiance. There are certainly better Mexican restaurants in the downtown area.

I was somewhat disappointed with our experience at Virgil. Aside from the chips, which are truly fantastic, the rest of the food and drinks were just average. The red salsa was overly smoky, the tacos al pastor lacked flavor, and the classic sumpf tasted off. We were seated in a room that felt more like a greenhouse than a restaurant, offering minimal ambiance. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants in the city. View menu

The atmosphere is fun and lively, with an exciting drink selection. And we haven't even mentioned the tacos yet! A tip for you: order the short rib barbacoa plate to share, along with some chips, queso, and guacamole. Roll up your sleeves and dig in! If you’re in the mood for something extra, consider adding some elote. After your meal, be sure to ask the bartender about the Merchant! It’s a speakeasy cocktail bar accessed through a hidden door in the same building, perfect for after-dinner drinks.

Ive been here before and not had such a terrible experience. But this was truly a bad evening out with friends. They had no idea how to do restaurant week even though they were participants. They didn't actually ring things in as the deal. Food came out in any order not apps, main, dessert. One dessert actually came out frozen solid with freezer burn on it?? what?? How do you not notice your cake is frozen solid? The waitress seemed utterly confused the entire time. Its too bad because their food is pretty decent but if they can't improve their service it is totally not worth it.

"I ordered the intake for the birthday dinner of my mother and the food was good (I ordered a few deeres), but I was very disappointed after I found a piece of hair in the sauce that I got on the side for the bohnenburger. I found the hair in the sauce after I put the sauce on the burger, with the burger not even eaten halfway. I called to inform madgardless about it, and the employee I spoke with said that she will look into it, but I would have really appreciated an anesthetic sincere apology. an apology goes far into my book. I was a fairly common customer, but after calling and talking to her it put a bad taste in my mouth. update: I was contacted by the administration and will deliver update soon I had the opportunity to talk to the manager when she reached me shortly after the submission of this review. she was sincerely apologetic and worked a few things with me to fix the situation, and I was satisfied with the order. some days later or so, I was in the mood for a dune in experience at irregardless, this go round. I enjoyed my experience from beginning to end. I was able to taste a lot of dressed from the appetizer to dessert and I enjoyed. the waiter was very good and made great recommendations. the good taste in my mouth was restored. no, but really, thank you for good customer service and care that has been provided. I've come back in the last few years."
