"This place only seems to continually decline when it comes to anything they had remotely positive. As my previous review mentioned, the customer service here can be awful at times. So awful that I pretty much vowed to refrain from dining in because I wanted to avoid any chances of me causing a scene and snapping. My family decided to order Vung Tau for dinner last night. Our order consisted of:-Combination Chow Fun-Hu Tieu Dai Ba Nam [kho]-Hu Tieu Ba Nam [nuoc]-Grilled Pork Prawn Vermicelli Noodles-Egg Noodle Soup w/ Prawn Pork-Egg Rice Noodle Soup w/ Prawn PorkFirst thing we noticed was how shady VT was with the veggies provided. Four LARGE bowls of noodle soup ordered and plastic pouch of veggies wasn 't even halfway filled. Food portions are just as stingy- no way would those large servings fly at any other normal restaurant. The chow fun was the worst hu tieu xao we had ever purchased- noodles were pale white, no sautéing in any shape or form. The noodles were also hard and clearly not fresh. 1 star because Vung Tau nickel dimes you. They skimp at every chance they get and the prices charges are not justified in what is actually being provided to you. How disappointing..."

I am so sad to hear that Vung Tau is closing down! This has been my family's favorite Vietnamese restaurant for 20 years. The food has always been great and I'm really surprised that they are closing down. I can only hope that they change their mind and don't close down.

This is the last Vung Tau left in the bay area and the landlord is trying to raise the rent on them but they are still around hopefully for the long run.Food is good every time I go here and the owner is very friendly. Please continue to support them during this time so we can keep them around.

Jan, our host, was absolutely delightful! Her recommendations were spot on, and she was incredibly generous in explaining the various dishes. She even customized some meals for us, allowing us to sample their best offerings. I will definitely return to experience their impressive array of authentic Vietnamese cuisine! The staff was very friendly, and it was a wonderful place to dine with delicious food. The icing on the cake is that it’s a family-run restaurant featuring recipes passed down through generations.

Went around closing time ~7:50pm and they still let us sit and were very sweet! I decided to go for the 25, the soup with fish in it. They unfortunately do not have pho or many red meat options which was disappointing. We got tea with our meal. The food came out very fast and the food was alright. The fish pieces were very soft and tasty and the soup was flavorful with the noodles. However, the portions were very small compared to the price point but it was overall a decent food experience. The service was great though and it was nice seating.

The food also took a long time to arrive, although it was good once we finally got it. It seemed like they prioritized takeout orders over ours. We requested two separate checks, but the waiter merely shrugged in response. When our bill finally arrived, it was combined. We had to go to the cashier to ask her to split it up for us. This wasn’t due to a language barrier since I communicated with the waiter in Vietnamese. As for vegetarian options, my husband ordered a vegetarian curry that turned out to be white instead of yellow. I can’t say whether it tasted like curry, as he was so hungry from the long wait that he ended up eating all of it. Regarding parking, there is a free lot, but du...

My husband and I went to have a casual lunch at this place. We were pleasantly surprised by our host Jan. The menu had several traditional Vietnamese dishes which we have not tried before. Jan was so passionate and helped us decide what to get. She even custom ordered a noodle bowl with half/half grilled onion beef and grilled pork when we couldn't decide between the two. We also got a rice bowl with lemongrass chicken which was so flavorful. We tried their Thai tea, which was brewed in-Hou's sand not made from extremely sweet pre-mix version.Jan suggested, we try the shrimp cup-cakes instead of our go to fresh roles. This was such a pleasant surprise! So many textures and the flavors of fre...

"I always go to this store as we live closeby. I always love to bring my kids in this store, and have them order their food. Yesterday, I went with my 3 yr old son (his bday) coz he wants a cake pop. I let him call the barista so she knows we're ready to order. My son said excuse me like 5 times, said hello like 3 times to get her attention coz she's talking with her coworker. She finally came up to us, my son ordered cakepops, I ordered 2 java chips and 1 mocha frappe. The baristas before were soooo nice, very friendly, welcoming but yesterday was the opposite. Btw, always sip a bit of your drinks before you leave the store coz yesterday I guess the barista who made the mocha frappe forgot to put in sugar syrup. I just found it today as my husband didn't drink his mocha frappe yesterday. Coz what if you just stopped by to get some drinks and you already left then found out something is wrong with your order. And also, they do not offer Java Chip anymore, so you gotta pay additional for the chips. The barista didn't even inform me about it, found out today when I checked the receipt online. I called in to let them know about my concerns, they offered to remake the mocha frappe. The barista who made our drinks was the one who took our order. Maybe she had a bad day. But then, I just wish the baristas will be more friendly and welcoming and inform the customer if a menu is no longer available so we have the option to change our order. "Location in a small strip mall type place up on second floor. We were greeted and seated quickly. We got hot jasmine tea to drink so I did not ask for a drink menu. Make sure to let the tea seep for a few minutes before pouring! I am not sure if they have one but it looks like they have a full bar in the corner so would not hurt to ask! We were looking for dim sum but they had just a few dim sum plates in the appetizer section so we got an entree to share as well. We were given some complimentary peanuts to start that had some kind of sauce on them, they were very tasty! We got traditional “juicy” dumplings I believe they were called. Which was steamed pork dumplings, lots of flavor! I did not care for dipping sauce, was a bit too sour for me but they were great on their own. Cucumber salad and BBQ pork buns were good as well. We ordered Tofu and Eggplant in garlic sauce. It was good but a bit on the sweet side, I’d prefer it if it were a spicy sauce but that’s just my preference. Tofu and eggplant were cooked perfectly and the flavor was still very pleasant. We were full and didn’t order dessert however they brought us a complimentary filled dumpling dessert and it was my favorite part of the meal! Tasted like a vanilla custard filling and was so good but did not see it on the dessert menu! Could have ate a handful more of those! 18% gratuity is always included! Which was fine for me in this case for good service and food. With the gratuity we paid $30 each. A bit pricey but we had leftovers and with everything being as good as it was, it is worth in my opinion. Would recommend!"
