"I always wanna try arepas since I never had this dish until I started traveling. Although I can only speak as a foreigner not familiar with this dish, I think it was delicious. A chill, low-key place to enjoy food with friends. Staff was also friendly. I had the Pabellon arepas. Although the pulled beef was slightly dry, everything else was delicious. The corn pancake was slightly crispy outside. My VIP goes to their Tres Leches cake..!! It was rich, moist, and creamy. But I don’t recommend their flan, have to be honest. It was hard like jello. Not the expected texture."

I am giving this restaurant a 4-star rating because a few items we wanted were not available and the bathroom was also inaccessible as they claimed it was unavailable.

The arepas at this restaurant are absolutely delicious, making them the perfect meal after a long drive. The establishment is clean and safely offers gluten-free options.

The Venezuelan arepa and tequeños were both delicious! The staff is always friendly, kind, and helpful. I have been a loyal customer for a while now and I can't stop talking about this place to everyone. View menu

Stumbled upon this quiet little spot when I needed lunch and it was perfect. Portions left me full but not overly stuffed. Everything is fresh and hot, not reheated, which I appreciate. Very accommodating for gluten free. Loved the shredded beef.

I got here and took the train all the way from Manhattan to try this spot. It was 100% worth the time. Food is delicious. Anything from the menu is Yummy and it’s a super well run business. I highly recommend it. Congrats to Kathy and team. Ricardo Fio

I really enjoyed the authentic fresh tasty, tastefully drawn chicken and beef bowl. Very recommended. I'll be back for more good food. I will recommend this cozy friendly place to many. I wished Kathy the pleasant owner, many more years of continued success. View menu

The entire menu is phenomenal; it’s truly authentic Venezuelan food but above all are the Tequeños (appetizer) they are the best ones that I’ve eaten in my life life. I highly recommend this restaurant not to mention the owner Katy, who is exceptionally hospitable!!!

The food at White Maize is excellent, which is to be expected in NYC. What truly sets them apart is their exceptional customer service. When my delivery driver brought the wrong order, White Maize went above and beyond to make things right, even covering the cost themselves. A restaurant that prioritizes their customers like this is one that I will definitely be returning to in the future. Highly recommended.

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
