"I have been coming here for a long time but just now realized that I have never written a review about this place. I think most of time we just wanted to devour the food as soon as possible and slip into a food coma after. Yes the Szechuan style coming here is very authentic, they don’t skip out on portion nor ingredients, and the taste is just right, not too mild, not too spicy. Personally I think it is better than some of the bigger names out there like Lao Szechuan. The prices are better as well. Since the pandemic, this place becomes more less a carry out than a dine in. We don’t live that close, but every time we crave for the food here, which is quite often, I will make the drive to Chinatown. If you have the Chinese food delivery apps like Fantuan and Panda, you will find some great deals from this place. Can’t beat it! We love the food here!!!"

The place is totally outdated, BUT the food makes up for it. I don't understand why places like Noodle Creations(tried and never going back) are hyped on social media. That is NOTHING compared to authentic Chinese cuisine by Dongpo.

Fantastic Szechwan Restaurant. The vegetarian selections are uniformly tasty and they're willing to make certain dishes, like Dan Dan Noodles, without meat. Everything tastes wonderful with great flavors. The Mala pops in Mapo Tofu. The Yushiang Eggplant is reminiscent of Fish Flavored Eggplant. Good addition to the Restaurants to revisit in Chinatown.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Chinatown!! We always come back for more because we love it so SO much. Every single dish is authentic, flavorful and nicely spiced (not in a numbing way . Best part about this restaurant is the sweet lady who runs the shop. Her smile is contagious and she always pair our take out orders with either some sort of free dessert or appetizer (We got juicy dumplings last time

So yummy! When we went in, the lady who runs the place seemed totally short-staffed and overwhelmed with lunchtime takeout orders. But she somehow turned out a huge, beautiful lunch for us in record time. Loved the Sichuan string beans, sesame noodles, silken tofu with shrimp, and scallion pancakes. She also threw in some extra dishes, like a sweet rice porridge and hand cut noodles in spicy sauce, for free. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Chicago Chinatown! View menu

I lived in Sichuan for 2 years and this is the BEST place for legit Sichuanese in Chicago. OMG it was delicious. I got 水煮牛肉 and 辣子鸡。Can’t recommend the 辣子鸡 enough, it was out of this world. Also had Scallion Pancake 葱花饼 and 抄手 (dumplings) and 干煸四季豆. I’m ashamed that was all just for me because I’m a glutton and I miss legit Sichuan food. Chef was trained at a top-notch culinary arts university in Chengdu. Just Go! Staff lady couldn’t have been kinder! Love this place!!!

One of the most authentic and wonderful chinese food we’ve ever eaten in the US! We came in on a Sunday night when everywhere else had a long line. We were skeptical about the google reviews because there was not a single person in this restaurant. It turned out they were only offering takeouts. We happily sat down after the waitress welcomed us in warmly. Everything we ordered was done quickly and super delicious! The fish was tender and definitely worth the $5 extra to order a fresh one. The beef was also tender and spicy. If you like SICHUAN spicy food, this restaurant can’t be beat! The price is also quite reasonably.

Kind, attentive service. The food was good and plentiful, even if prices were higher than those in other restaurants on Wentworth St. and in Chinatown Square. However, they offer 2 free little appetizers (peanuts and bamboo salad, I think? while you look at the menu, plus a free pot of tea. The Kung Pao Chicken was nice, no Panda Express-style dish. It had plenty of celery, chicken, peanuts and hot red peppers nicely prepared and cooked. You could taste the garlic and the ginger in the sauce. I also ordered a cucumber salad, which was delicious and prepared with an entire cucumber. Portions are not skimpy, which is greatly appreciated. The decor and ambiance of the place are a little outdate... View menu

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
