"Service is very good, staff is friendly. Sandwiches are really good as well, but nearly every one is steamed. They don't offer any cold, deli subs (except the tuna salad). *Update* 5 Stars! Just had the meatball sub (classic). This sub alone gets 5 stars! One of the best I've ever had, and definitely the best in the area! Also, you can request that your sub NOT be steamed, which I didn't know before."

"There's subs are really really good. This was a New York steamer AKA pastrami sandwich. Felt it could have had a little bit more meat on it but otherwise it was really good tasting. I had it delivered through doordash which was really good, except that they ran out of the macaroni and cheese so I wasn't able to try it for the first time and I found out it is out of stock I guess with their supplier in right now definitely suggest if you want a good sub go here then steam the meat before goes on to the bun which makes it really good and the meat is shaved thin"
"It?s always a stellar visit when I come to this firehouse subs locations. Get the large it may be a little bit more expensive, but boy is it worth it! Food is fantastic, steamed meat and cheese, with sauces galore, and tons of drink choices. Can?t ask for a better food experience. They are consistent and I?ve never had a better sub than a firehouse sub. I get the large Italian wheat, extra spicy ? , and the wife and kids usually get the Turkey Bacon Ranch. You can tell the staff love to work here too. Pro tip, ask for some extra sauce and or for their secret sauce. You won?t be disappointed."

"Firehouse makes some of my favorite subs and this place has friendly, hardworking people who always seem to try to be their best despite being short staff at times (see the norm in these times). I really don't like to reduce the reviews of a place based on things that are out of their control, and every time I go to this place, I see people behind the counter do their best to be friendly and as fast as possible. I appreciate her very much and always enjoy walking in. Be careful when you dive to lunch on a weekday when you are in a hurry, but not accuse the people behind the counter. They do their best. I visited all sites in ABQ (I really like their sub-parts) and this is my favorite next to the location on the west side (Cottonwood). If you haven't tried a sub here yet, ask a team member and they give you suggestions based on your preferences. Also, Firehouse no longer calculates for modernizing a large soda that may not be the healthiest thing, but it shows the approach of the company to create value. Up and thank you all at the Academy's location. Go on!"

"Honestly starting to think that the night crew just does what they can to limit themselves from making food. I've been there twice and been denied food twice. Both times were at least an hour away from closing time. First time, they said they couldn't toast any subs because they were cleaning the oven. Second time, they said the credit card machine was down. Both these things limit the amount of orders that they'll get. Both times the open sign was not illuminated. Could all be a coincidence but not likely."
"Honestly, I am very disappointed. I have not been to this location in over a year, and something certainly changed....be it management, employees or ownership. The employees did not greet me and I waited around for someone to take my order. A younger man came out and took my order but acted like I was a nuisance, as I was redeeming my birthday sub. As a customer who worked in the service industry before, I find it disturbing that no one has mentioned this before and corrected the action. I understand that employees are hard to find right now but employees that don't care are worse than having no staff, at least then you would have a valid excuse for lack of service. I agree with previous comments in regard to sanitation. Dirty tables, dirty soda fountain and a general lack of caring how the store is presented. I will not be returning and that is sad to say because I used to look forward to coming to this location after work years ago."

"The food preparation time at this restaurant can be quite inconsistent. I was told my order would be ready for pickup by 12:10, but it actually took an extra 13 minutes, which made me late for work since I had ordered my lunch. I've ordered from here frequently, and this isn't the first time my food wasn't ready on time. So, if you have some flexibility with your schedule, it might work for you, but if you're pressed for time, it’s probably best to look elsewhere. While the staff are friendly and the food is decent, the slow preparation time is a significant drawback for me. I can’t afford to be late anymore, so I’ll need to find another place for lunch."

"I'm disappointed to share that this location has really fallen off lately. This past month was especially frustrating. The staff was rude and appeared to argue over trivial issues, making the overall experience quite unpleasant. The sandwiches I ordered were messy and not prepared correctly. When I raised my concerns with the owner, instead of providing an apology, they just complained, which certainly explains the staff's behavior. While writing a review takes time, it's unacceptable to pay good money for such poor service and incompetence."

"This restaurant is terrible! My family and I are big fans of Firehouse Subs and have enjoyed visits to other locations, but this one has the worst customer service we've ever experienced. We've been there multiple times, and they often try to close before the posted hours. I waited at the register for a full five minutes while a young staff member took out the trash—it's quite gross, especially since she didn’t wash her hands before making my sub! It wasn’t until I pretended to start recording her that she finally stopped cleaning and took my order. On top of that, half of the store was closed off. They also frequently get orders wrong! And don't even think about calling in your order ahead of time—they have the phone ringer turned off! I’m not kidding; I tested this by having my husband inside the store while I called, and the phone was tucked away with the ringer disabled! I definitely won’t be returning!"

"I was an Employee at this Firehouse Subs (store #941) for about 2 months (start date 5/2/2022). After a few weeks of working there, a coworker named Karen started cursing heavily at me after I threw her receipt away, saying f k you and you mother f r over and over to me. The district manager, Chad, overheard what she was saying and gave her a final warning. She later quit. Chad then told me that is not excusable, no one should be talked to like that, and that something like that will never happen again to me. Well, on June 12th the store manager, Kenny, started cursing at me, saying stuff like don 't f g do that , what the F k is that, and you motherf r for about two hours that day. About a week before he started talking to me like that he asked me if I was gay, and said that I seemed like someone who is gay. I texted Chad (about Kenny cursing at me), and Chad later told me that he talked to the store owner (Glenda) and talked to Kenny and said it won 't happen again, and that he is really sorry that Kenny talked to me like that. A few days later Kenny started making fun of me for wearing women 's clothing which really made me feel bad (I do identify as LGBTQ but I don 't tell my employers and I try to hide the fact that I wear women 's clothing). About a week later (on 6/20/2022) I was reading a chart before the store opened and Kenny then came over to me and said what the F are you doing? Then he said that doesn 't F go there! when I was putting a container of chicken away. I left that day (on 6/20/2022) and still feel so bad and hurt I do not want to work there anymore. I have had severe depression and several bills are due that I can 't pay. The reason I think Kenny cursed at me and talked to me the way he did is because I identify as LGBTQ, and he perhaps does not like LGBTQ people. It does not matter the reason, no one should be cursed at, especially these days the way things are going in the country. I feel I experienced discrimination, harassment and a hostile work environment at this Firehouse Subs on Patton Avenue and have filed my case with the EEOC. When I went to pick up my final paycheck recently I was surprised to see Kenny was still working there after treating me the way he did."

"I had two subs delivered to my workplace, and unfortunately, both had a hair in them – and they looked identical. It seemed whoever prepared these just got a haircut, as the hairs were short, straight, and brown. I often order from Firehouse, but only from the Melrose Park location, which consistently tastes much better, even without considering the hair issue. It's clear that someone from corporate needs to pay this location a visit to see if the staff are giving each other haircuts in the back."

"I visited this restaurant just 20 minutes before closing time, and it was clear they were ready to wrap up for the day. Despite that, the staff provided me with excellent service and allowed me to dine in. It's a fantastic place with an amazing team!"

"I went there once because I had a coupon but was not impressed.the place was stinking of cleaning solution that was way too strong. It smelled like pine sol and infiltrated my lungs and made my stomach turn. I lost my appetite but ended up getting the food to go. It was not that good. It was bland and a normal portion of meat cost extra. It was expensive and I felt like this is very similar to Quiznos, like the meat is steamed or boiled. I prefer Jersey Mikes cheesesteak.There was no one there and they took so long to make a couple of sandwiches."

"Today I have placed a group order over the phone because the app said the earliest pickup time was at 8 a.m., although I tried to make an instant order at 2 a.m. Felix picks up the phone and takes my group order of 4 subs and chips error-free. Felix, if you read this, 100/10 man!! Loved the way he took my order via the phone, regardless of my app problems, very nice and attentive. Patient and charming charisma. And when I picked up the order, he made my day complete. Joke compliments and everything! Hoping Fireworks pays you NICEEE man! Keep the big work and I hope I made your day too!"
