"Have come here in the past and it been a much better experience than tonight. We will not be coming back for several reasons. Sad to see a Greenpoint staple go so down hill. Firstly, before walking in on a rainy night at 6 PM, we saw there were dozens of reservations available on resy, so we didn't think walking in would be an issue. We walked in and the place was full of empty tables, only around 4 tables were occupied. The hostess was extremely rude and immediately said she didn't think they had a table for us. I told her I understood, but I saw dozens of free reservations on resy...She eventually sat us, but had a bad attitude and honesty seemed pretty unhappy in her role from walking in the door. Just unwelcoming. Secondly, the place was SO hot. I'm talking like rainforest jungle level stuffy and humid. On a super hot august day when you're paying top dollar for food, it should be comfortable. It was uncomfortable the entire time and stayed super hot the entire time... Next, I ordered a Margarita and our waiter interjected to suggest/ push his favorite cocktail on us despite us not asking...We went for his suggestion but when it arrived it was basically straight Mezcal. I didn't want to make a fuss about it but he eventually asked how we liked the drinks. My sister smiled and said to be honest she really didn't like it, but no worries. He offered her a margarita instead which was nice, but it then took 20 minutes to arrive and came towards the end of the meal. The food is decent, the appetizers of dips and skewers were the best thing, but the chicken and tuna entrees were super mediocre, lacking anything special. Tuna wasn't high quality tuna and lacked flavor, overcooked and hard pucks of ahi. And for $30 each, it was a major let down. The bill game and it was so high, we just kind of laughed. The kind of meal that just sucked and you couldn't believe you're paying $250 for. The waiter also charged an extra $5 for the replacement drink he offered my sister, just poor hospitality. I wish I could be more positive. I lived in greenpoint for years and this place used to be a special occasion place. You're better off ordering a falafel from a street cart, legit. They need an overhaul of management, staff and to fix their AC immediately."

"For our first course, we ordered calamari, and I can honestly say that the first bite left me speechless. Growing up in Italy with a chef in the family, I’ve tasted my fair share of calamari, but these were even better than what I had at home. I didn’t think that was possible! Next, we decided to try some classic dishes for comparison. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with Parmesan fries, while my wife opted for a simple lemon pasta dish. I was blown away by how delicious the cheeseburger was! The fries were delectable as well. My wife’s pasta was also fantastic; when we asked about it, we learned it was homemade and always fresh—what a treat! For dessert, we shared Pazza's take on tiramisu, which consisted of chocolate-covered cake balls drizzled with delightful toppings that enhanced the flavor. It was absolutely mouthwatering and an enjoyable way to finish our meal. When the bill came, I usually get anxious about spending, but this experience made it easy for me to happily pay the very reasonable amount and leave a generous tip for the friendly and attentive service. I can’t say enough great things about Pazza on Porter. It’s just a short drive from the airport tunnel and definitely worth the journey. We’ve dined at the well-known places like Santarpio’s and Rino’s, and I would say Pazza is right up there, if not slightly ahead. Give it a try; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! It has become our go-to restaurant whenever friends come to visit!"

"I thought a review was necessary, after reading others reviews. Let me start with the positives. The staff are very friendly and courteous. Many restaurant options. And location is very central. Here were things that need changing.1) the pool is listed specifically as family friendly. I actually read a manager’s answer to a review tgat stayed the sane thing in may promising changes. Nothing has changed. There are lap lanes set up and people are clearly there for that purpose. so unless you want to swim laps don’t use the pool. My 9 year old son was told to find his way through the men’s room and meet us at the pool. Luckily a staff member helped him as it was in an entirely different section of the floor. Please don’t advertise the pool as family friendly. It is definitely not. And there is no attempt to change it.2) noises 24/7 which kept us awake even wearing earplugs. Air system? Elevator shaft? Sounded like a loud rolling constantly through the night. Another comment I read on someone’s review, with manager apologies and understanding how important peace and quiet are. But no change. It’s still like that3) very outdated and colonialist decor- clean but very dated. Which leads to..4) the most troubling one. I understand the captain cook theme of the hotel. But I was bothered to the point of losing sleep about the highly offensive large murals of depictions of native and aboriginal populations in a cartoonish and less than human way. Photo of only one of dozens of life sized “art” included below. I wrote an email to a manager and received no reply. I understand who Cpt Cook was, and although I do not celebrate him as someone who “discovered” places that had native populations living there for thousands of years before his arrival, I was not prepared to be confronted with large murals that appear as his early drawings back to his colony may have depicted people as savages and less than human to excuse the ugly things he may have done to them. It has no place in a hotel common area in this day and age. Maybe in a historical book or museum. But it is highly offensive to native populations and those who care about them. Based on empathetic replies and promises made on previously written reviews with no change, I don’t expect this hotel to change its stripes. But I hope when they complete a very much needed renovation they make better less offensive choices in their art. We will come and go. (And never return) but At least for its employees who have to look at these things daily."
