"Not bad, ultimately, but far from good. The menu is fairly basic, and you certainly pay for your larger meals. I got the Large BBQ, on the first setting, the beef was fairly good, served with a teriyaki like take with zero spice, a bit of rice and somecold potato salad. In the second time, I ordered curry beef, and that was stupidly disappointing. The dish was just so blend itwas bordering awful. I think folks that know food wouldn?t make this a regular. Additionally, the restaurant wasn?t thatclean. There were dirty marks on the chairs and food mess on the table, I had to use a high chair for my son that was so dirty,I had to get wet wipes from my car to clean. And don?t get me set on toilet, that was perhaps the worst I?ve seen in manyyears. I do firmly believe, if you can?t keep your tables, chairs and toilet areas clean you can?t cook and store foodclean. This part of California has great food, I don?t think this place is worth the gamble, given the poor cleaning practices."

"I was there with friends for the 4th of July. The food and drinks were decent if perhaps a bit overpriced. I got the island bowl with smashed avocado, which was just rice, beans, greens, plantains, salsa, and guacamole. It was good, but probably not worth the $12. The 5 of us shared a pitcher of the berry mojito, which was light and refreshing. The ambience was great- very island feel. However, we were seated on the rooftop and it was quite hot and sunny. The service was a little slow, but they admitted to being short-staffed for the holiday."

"I do not recommend ordering from this restaurant. I ordered a seafood and katsu mixed plate through DoorDash, and when the order arrived, the portions were extremely small. It seems that this place is trying to take advantage of their customers. I understand that food prices have increased, but it is disrespectful to receive such small portions. It appears that they may be cutting regular-sized katsu pieces into thin slices to make it seem like there is more food on the plate. I will not be ordering from this restaurant again."

"However, on the third day, when I sent my niece with the dogs, there was a huge sign that read "NO PETS ALLOWED." As a result, she didn’t spend any money there. I found it shocking that after we had previously dined without issue, they now had this new policy and that I had received burnt food without any acknowledgment from the staff. It's disappointing because those dogs are part of my family, and they genuinely enjoyed the food at your restaurant. Now that you have a "no pets" sign, I feel excluded as a customer who has spent money there. It's disheartening to see such a judgmental stance when our dogs were well-behaved and friendly. I spent money on food for my dogs because they loved it at your place, but now I've decided I won't be returning. It's a shame because I had hoped for a welcoming experience for both my family and our pets."

"My first time at Mahalo wasn't bad, but the food was nothing to write home about. My 2nd time at Mahalo was definitely worse. For starters, they don't use air conditioning. I made the mistake of going on a hot, humid day, and their ceiling fans and open windows did nothing to remedy the utter discomfort of breathing in steamy air while your body sticks to the table and chairs. All we could think about was how to hurry up and get out of there so we could go eat ice cream at Jeni's next door just to cool off. Their rationale is they're trying to give you an island experience, but it doesn't make sense for business because who wants to eat a big meal while sitting in a sauna??? Also, it's extremely unappealing to see the chefs and wait staff constantly wiping sweat off their faces. They just rebranded themselves under a new restaurant called Beach House Social, so hopefully the new place is more prepared to handle the plentiful hot weather of a Chicago summer. Now, let's talk about the food. The veggie poke is unlike any veggie poke I've ever had, and that's not a good thing. I didn't taste a single traditional poke flavor. It was basically some bland vegetables drizzled with a tangy red sauce, and a side of bug. Yes, that's right there was a dead bug stuck to my dish. It wasn't a live bug that flew in through the open windows because it was very much dead and stuck to my plate. (Thankfully, they didn't end up charging me for this dish. My cousin ordered a seafood omelette, which contained a shrimp shell, and my other cousin ordered fish poke, which contained a bone."

"I really liked the location that used to be on Cortaro and Ina! However, I’m not sure what kind of chicken they serve now, but it was quite rubbery, and the texture felt almost undercooked when I took a bite... yet it wasn’t! I like to call it "Tyson chicken." It might have just been an off day for them, but I recommend sticking with the pulled pork and getting two scoops of white rice instead! The tables were also sticky, like the wax was peeling off. "After a grueling gym session, my brother and I were both eager for a filling takeout meal. L&L immediately came to mind since we've always enjoyed their food and it consistently satisfies our hunger. We decided to place our order in advance, and it was ready right on time! We both chose the BBQ chicken plate with rice and mac salad, and overall, it was quite good. However, I did find the rice to be a bit dry — it seemed overcooked or perhaps made with insufficient water. The chicken was a touch fattier than I remembered, but it was still well-seasoned and packed with flavor. As always, the mac salad was incredibly creamy and delicious. While the prices might seem a bit steep for fast food, I truly believe it's justified given the generous portions and the rising costs of dining out these days."

"Girl answering the phone just ruined this place for our family. Her name is Juliette. She answered with Attitude and by the time I asked the second person in my family what they wanted she had already repeated anything else 3 times. Keep in mind the phone call total was 2 min 14 seconds, for 5 people 's orders. "Dropped by the weekend for a quick lunch. The lady at the register was like a rookie, we tried to clarify the terms, like grilled and bbq, white and dark meat. The cook behind was jumping in, trying to sort out the communications. Realized they charge extra, almost for any substitutions as opposed to some of their fellow competitors. I decided to stay as it was. The order turned out not as I expected, the appearance was off, a little too burnt, or too much charred matter. I suspect their grill was not cleaned as supposed to be, with much residue or accumulated substances. Ended up it was a forgettable experience, I had to throw away some portions of the meat. My dining purpose is to be protein friendly, turned out my experience here was counterproductive. I have no intention to consume a stomach full of toxic chemicals."

What a delight it was to be met at the door by her, with: “Jim?” And then ushered to the “intimate” table my husband had earlier requested. It was my favorite: right in front of the Christmas-decorated fireplace, and there was even a Christmas tree with all its lovely trimmings!Then the Amazing happened! "This place, much like me, used to be cooler. Don’t get me wrong their brunch is bangin’ and overall their food is good. I liked their old menu better though.
