"The melted sundae was quite an unusual combination. This was my second visit to this restaurant, and while my first experience was mediocre—with okay service and decent custard—I thought I would give it another shot by ordering a sundae, hoping the extra ingredients would enhance the dish. Unfortunately, it turned out to be even worse.
I chose the brownie sundae because it's a classic that should be hard to mess up, yet they managed to do just that. When it arrived, it was completely melted, with the small amount of whipped cream completely blended into the custard, leaving the poor cherry lost somewhere within.
The sundae came with chocolate custard, which was very sweet and not awful, but traditionally, brownie sundaes are made with vanilla ice cream or custard to balance the rich chocolate from the brownie and hot fudge. If that’s their twist on it, they should definitely put a description on the menu so customers can clarify if they prefer it differently.
Then there was the issue of the non-existent fudge. I finally located some at the bottom of the cup, but it wasn't hot fudge; it was just chocolate syrup. Now, about the brownie—it's meant to be the highlight of this dessert, after all, it is called a Brownie Sundae. Once I dug through the melted chocolate custard, the goo that used to be whipped cream, and the room-temperature chocolate syrup, I discovered what I suspect was a pre-packaged brownie from a store. The overwhelming flavor was just sugar—none of the pleasant brown sugar notes, caster sugar, or even raw sugar—just plain white sugar with a hint of oddly flavored cocoa powder.
Overall, it was a complete disappointment and a waste of $6 and 45 minutes on the treadmill."
