"I used to work in the same building as Azafran, and I can confidently say their food is both creative and delicious. The owner, Irena, often makes the rounds in the dining area, engaging with customers. The menu changes regularly, as they primarily use locally sourced ingredients, which means the dishes evolve with the seasons. The café is also very committed to sustainability, recycling extensively and incorporating a variety of fresh, interesting ingredients into their unique dishes. On the downside, this thoughtful approach to food and waste management does result in slightly higher prices, with meals typically ranging from $9 to $12. However, it’s definitely worth trying!"

Azafran has been around since 2004. It is the highest-quality place for lunch on campus. The food is tasty and diverse, with the menu changing several times a year. Their espresso and other coffee drinks are also great. Highly recommended!

Really great place that is a quite hidden treasure. The chef is also a cook at Alma Cocina down in Fells Point so its amazing food! They have Venezuelan cuisine (tequeños) which is always a treat in a city that lacks vast Latin American restaurants.

I've come to enjoy their Flank Steak Panino which is made with thinly cut steak, chimichurri sauce, and cheddar cheese on a grilled roll with a side order of a spring salad mix. They offer a wide variety of healthy foods. I highly recommend this place.

I've visited this restaurant several times for a quick lunch, and it's usually quite good. However, I have to give it just 1 star due to poor quality control regarding their salads—I found a bug in mine, and the lettuce looked rather unappetizing. It's a shame, because the location is really convenient. View menu

This restaurant, located just off Johns Hopkins, offers a fantastic variety of healthy food options. The sandwiches are exceptional. As a big fan of tuna, I can confidently say that their tuna sandwich tastes incredibly fresh, unlike the dried-out versions you often find in most delis. All the ingredients used are of the highest quality. The best part? The prices are quite reasonable.

The cookie I received my first time was great, but the ones I got during my second and third orders were completely different. So, was my first cookie even vegan? When I placed my third order, I called to check if they had the same soup (Kale, Potato, Leek Soup) I enjoyed on my first visit. Guess what? They had no vegan options available at that time either! I had to settle for the Green Pea Soup instead. I wanted to give this restaurant another chance, but this last experience was definitely my last. The food is good, and I would love to keep supporting them, but if they can’t provide the items on their menu, they really need to update it.

I am continuously impressed by the quality of the food at this restaurant. The dishes may sound simple at first, but they are rich in deep and complex flavors, clearly influenced by Latin cuisine. I’ve dined here more than 20 times, trying over 20 different dishes, and every single one has been delicious. The atmosphere is somewhat lackluster, as the restaurant is located in a converted space within a scientific research building, so don't expect the ambiance to reflect the inspiration behind the food. In fact, this contrast enhances the experience. You walk in expecting cafeteria-style meals, only to be pleasantly surprised by a high-quality dining experience. View menu

"Highly recommend Sweet Peaz Southern Kitchen! The food is served fresh and hot. We were a party of eight and ordered Fried Whiting with Yams and Mac n Cheese, Chicken and Waffles, Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Tenders, Fried Shrimp, French Fries, and Collard Greens. The Sweet Potato Waffles were absolutely delicious! The fried chicken, shrimp, and fish were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as they looked. The seasoning was just right—not too salty, allowing the flavors to shine. The yams and collards were a real treat for the taste buds. And the cornbread? Simply amazing. My only disappointment was that the first taste was free (haha). The Mac n Cheese was decent, but the Chicken Tenders didn’t quite live up to their name; however, they did remake them for us to take home. The space is small and simple, with old-school music that adds to the enjoyable dining experience. They limit dining to one hour to ensure everyone can enjoy the food, which I appreciate—I dislike when people linger for too long when others are waiting. The staff were friendly, making us feel valued and appreciated. Prices are reasonable. One downside was that many items were unavailable, including grits—which was a big letdown since I was looking forward to the famous Shrimp and Grits—as well as butter, potato salad, seafood salad, and tartar sauce. I recommend calling ahead if you’re craving a specific dish. Despite this, it was a great dining choice and lived up to the positive reviews. Overall, we left satisfied and would gladly return. Parking is street parking only, as there’s no dedicated lot."
