Bull And Bean - Menu

I don’t order anything different to what is listed in the menu, still they often get something wrong, hot latte instead of cold latte, over easy eggs instead of over medium, missing carnitas in the grits bowl. But I keep coming back because the food is so delicious and the place is really nice

I love this hidden little Gem. I have lived in Durham on the Shannon Road side of town my entire adult life, so this is my hood! The Adult grill cheese is my favorite. I don 't really care for cheese, but I will go out of my way for this! The daily soups and treats are top tier. The barista drinks rival starbucks! Check it out, you won 't be disappointed!

I really enjoy this spot in Durham for breakfast, brunch, and coffee. It's best to arrive before 10 AM to avoid the crowds, but as a solo diner, there's usually plenty of seating at the bar, and the service is prompt. Their chai latte is fantastic—better than many others I've had at different cafes. The grits and breakfast burrito were also excellent. I also appreciate that you offer plant-based milk alternatives for your coffees and teas, but I hope you can eliminate the extra charge for them in the near future! Additionally, if you’re not already using 100% cage-free eggs, please consider making that commitment and proudly display it on your website and menus. I know it’s a tougher change, but transitioning to gestation crate-free pork products would also significantly benefit animal welfare. Looking forward to my next visit!

I highly recommend this restaurant! The menu is wonderfully inclusive, offering a range of delicious vegan options. It was quite busy when I visited on Saturday, so be prepared for a potential wait – but it was definitely worth it! I really appreciated the variety of seating available, including small tables, outdoor seating, and bar options. The portion sizes were on the smaller side, but that's to be expected. Overall, I will definitely return, as I received excellent service and the food was clean and flavorful.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because i've been there 2 times. Both times were different. 1st time was horrible due to the busy and small space. I got the wrong order and took a long time to get my steak and eggs. One of the waitress tried to correct that issue by giving me a gift card. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from the steak and eggs. 2nd time was ok due to just getting to pickup my order. The gritbowl was tasty. I’ve been a customer of Bull and Bean for a very long time. I still enjoy their food, and like the atmosphere, but the big thing that has deteriorated is the service. The staff used to be so pleasant and helpful, recognizing regular customers, always quick with a smile and a greeting. Now I rarely get either a smile or a greeting, just sullen faces and attitudes. Also, almost every time I visit, the coffee is cold and/or about to run out. Brewing another pot seems to take an eternity, often not becoming available until after I’ve finished eating. Surely the staff can do better?

We really fell in love with this place since we moved in Durham and therefore it was really disappointing to deal with one staff member today who could not find my pick-up order and didn’t even make an effort just insisting on “No, it is not here” while I ordered in advance as I knew I would be rushing to work. Another very kind staff member found my order (that was not prepared, not even started) and made sure it is prepared as fast as possible. I understand that mistakes happen but I would expect the first lady at the very least to apologize! It does not cost much!!! I asked for an apology and she ignored it looking straight at me. This is by far one of the best cafe in the triangle and never had a problem every visit! Unfortunately I was having a rather interesting visit when some lady started yelling at one of the workers who was trying to find a pickup order which shocker was ordered on a different platform! I would’ve thought at that age she would’ve had common sense and specified where the pickup order was placed but customer was rude and trying to “act” superior as if she should be talking with that tone and expecting the poor workers to apologize for this ladies incompetence.
