"Cafe Lore is the perfect spot when you’re in no hurry and want to indulge in a leisurely multi-course dinner paired with wine. Brian, who serves as the owner, chef, and server, is a truly unique individual with a genuine love for meeting people and a deep passion for exceptional food and hospitality. If you have somewhere to be, just let him know ahead of time, and he’ll speed things up for you. Otherwise, he assumes you’re there to savor the meal and experience, not rush through it—a refreshing change in this city. I tried the pumpkin ravioli with Alfredo on his recommendation, and though it might sound unusual, it works wonderfully, much like a creamy butternut bisque. My boyfriend, a serious eggplant parm enthusiast, was genuinely impressed with his dish. As a special surprise, Brian brought us some of his homemade coconut ice cream for dessert, which was delightful—I can’t wait to return for more. This place truly stands out!"

My wife and I often visit this restaurant. The food is excellent, and the staff has become some of our favorite people. The live music adds to the charm of this wonderful place.

How you guys don't cater to your own neighborhood. So sad that a person who's trying to support a local business can't due to they don't deliver. Really disappointed in you guys! View menu

The restaurant is usually quite empty, except on weekends when they host private parties. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing and excessively salty. The prices were much higher than what was listed on their physical menu (which isn’t available online), and even after including taxes, it didn’t add up. My companion and I didn’t feel it was worth arguing about since we won’t be returning. The overall atmosphere was quite awkward, and the waiter, who also seemed to be the owner and chef, didn’t help the situation. It felt uncomfortable being there when it was so empty.

I started with a green salad dressed with lemon and olive oil, accompanied by cherry tomatoes. Next, I enjoyed rice balls followed by the eggplant rollatini. For my main course, I had spaghetti all’amatriciana and lobster pasta. Everything was absolutely delicious! The eggplant rollatini was incredibly tasty, but the pasta truly stood out. I wish they had a spicy version of the spaghetti all’amatriciana because it was already so good, and of course, the lobster pasta was fantastic as well. I can't wait for them to reopen for service! This is the best Italian food in Sunset Park—definitely give it a try; you won't regret it!

I started with a refreshing salad of mixed greens drizzled with lemon and olive oil, topped with cherry tomatoes. Next, I enjoyed the rice balls, followed by the eggplant rollatini, and then I moved on to the main courses: spaghetti all'Amatriciana and lobster pasta. Everything was absolutely scrumptious! The rice balls and eggplant rollatini were the best I’ve ever tasted, and the pasta dishes were exceptional. If you like spicy pasta, I highly recommend the spaghetti all'Amatriciana, and the lobster pasta was equally fantastic. I can't wait for this restaurant to reopen! It truly offers the finest Italian cuisine in Sunset Park. Give it a try – you won't be disappointed! View menu

I started with a simple salad of greens, dressed with lemon and olive oil, along with cherry tomatoes. Next, I had rice balls and eggplant rollatini, followed by the main courses: spaghetti All'Amatriciana and lobster pasta. Everything was absolutely delicious! The rice balls were the best I've ever tasted, and the eggplant rollatini was incredible as well. The standout dish for me was definitely the pasta. If you enjoy a bit of spice, you have to try the spaghetti All'Amatriciana—it's unbelievably tasty! And the lobster pasta? Just phenomenal! I can't wait for you all to open for service! This is the best Italian food in Sunset Park! You have to give it a try; you'll love it!

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Thomas is an incredible chef, and Brian is a delightful conversationalist. The atmosphere is cozy and feels like you're dining in someone's home. Their house red wine is quite nice and pairs well with the meal, but the real star here is the food—it's absolutely delicious. The Marsala is among the best I've ever had, and the Sunday sauce tastes like it could be your own recipe. The stuffed mushrooms, meatballs, rice balls, baked clams, and oh, the mussels are all must-tries! Get the idea? Order a little bit of everything and then narrow down your favorites. Don't forget to ask about the daily specials—they never disappoint. The food is not...

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
