"I visited this restaurant today because it was close by, only to receive the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a Charley's. I go to Charley's frequently, but this time I waited in line for 5 minutes without even being acknowledged. The staff member was rude and my sandwich was made incorrectly. Although my bacon and ranch fries were good, my sandwich unexpectedly had mushrooms, green peppers, and onions on it. These ingredients were not supposed to be included, not on my receipt, and I did not ask for them. I will not be returning to this location, especially because of the terrible customer service."

The fries were fantastic, surprising because usually fries aren't great if they're not fresh. I deducted a star because the sandwich was dry. I was expecting the opposite, if anything. View menu

I would not recommend Charley's Cheese Bread for their cheesesteak, as the meat lacks flavor. This was the worst cheesesteak I have ever had, even worse than the one from Subway. It seems like in PG County, good food goes to die.

I ordered a sandwich with extra ranch, but they only put a small amount of ranch and meat on it. I paid extra for the ranch, but it was disappointing. I won't be ordering from this restaurant again. I specifically asked for no mayo and pickles, but my cheesesteak ended up plain. View menu

Do not visit this restaurant unless you have the entire day to spare waiting for your food. Waiting almost half an hour for an order of just 6 wings is unacceptable. They even asked me to change my order because my original choice would take too long, but in the end, I ended up waiting even longer and still didn't get what I wanted.

My husband and I were excited to try the mozzarella sticks at this restaurant, as we have enjoyed them in the past. However, we were disappointed by the new mozzarella sticks and sauce. They tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, unlike the freshly made ones we had previously. On a positive note, we enjoyed the wings, subs, and lemonades at this restaurant.

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
