"We finally took my parents to hike Heart Falls and noticed this place on the way back. They have a lot of unique and wonderful food. I had chilli cheese onion rings, something I've never seen anywhere else, and they were one of the best things I've ever had (is that just because I've never had them before? . My wife and parents also loved what they had. I tried to order a blueberry shake (an uncommon flavor, and one of my favorites but it was 4th of July weekend and every table was full so things were slow. Eventually the manager came out and explained they were short one employee and everyone seemed to be ordering shakes with only one blender in the kitchen and he just wasn't able to make mine any time soon. Instead, he suggested dessert nachos. That's yet another food I've never seen elsewhere. The chips were more like fried pastry slices, coated with cinnamon, some liquid chocolate, plus vanilla ice cream. Put it all together and it tasted a lot like fried ice cream, which happens to be one of my favorite flavors. This place is small, so don't expect them to be able to cook breakfast food during lunch. It also has weird hours, like I don't think they're open for dinner on weekdays, so check before you go. But if you can find a time they're open and you're free, the food is wonderful. Probably the best food I've found on the mountain (I won't yet say definitely since I've only eaten here once so far ."

This place has some of the best foods on the mountain and some amazing milkshakes also. Chef Cindy is really an amazing cook. I love the way they decided to decorate the interior and really enjoy the older music they play. It was a real shame to see that they sell the place, it will be missed.

I rarely leave comments on the internet, but... this is the best Cafe I visited in California! On a long trip from France, I tasted here the best and biggest pancakes I've ever had. But here Cindy and Bill have much more to offer than food. Their heart warming hospitality will fill up your batteries for a while. They also play great music. The place is comfortable and atmosphere is really welcoming.

Cindy is an amazing cook and Bill (her husband) covers the dinning room. They are both wonderfully pleasant and happy to offer new arrivals recommendations. The chicken noodle soup is made at home and thick. The cookies run out quickly (with good reason) as they are made fresh daily, so early as you want one. The fried zucchini Appetizer is also great (smothered in cheese and bacon with one side of ranch). Dessert Nachos are a must if you have rooms. View menu

My husband and I recently visited this charming spot during our scenic drive to Big Bear Mountain. Initially, we considered it a last-minute option to avoid overpriced, mediocre food at the ski resort. However, it turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our trip. Cindy and her husband Bill were incredibly welcoming. Cindy personally came to our table, introduced herself, and went over the menu, highlighting a few dishes based on our tastes. Everything we ordered was delicious, but if I could give just one recommendation, it would be to try the homemade chicken noodle soup. Even if you're only a casual soup fan, you won't regret ordering it!

Been to Cafe Cindy's twice now. It's a fair drive for me from Apple Valley, so I usually only stop by when the interstate is backed up going down the hill, and I feel like going a different route other than south on 138 out of Summit Valley. The first stop was several years ago, that was for lunch and it was good, but too long ago for any juciy details. Breakfast was just a week ago, and I'll say that the pancakes and sausage were the best I've ever had. I don't eat eggs so I was given fruit that was actually ripe, sweet and ever so tasty. In reading the other reviews, I'll be headed back up to try the bacon cheeseburger real soon. I wonder if Chef Cindy will fix that for my breakfast? Can't...

We enjoyed two excellent breakfasts there and just recently stopped by for lunch. My daughter had a hard time choosing from the menu because everything sounded so appealing, and each hot sandwich came with two side options. During our first visit, Chef Cindy personally came to our table, and it was a delight to talk to her as she shared her passion for cooking and the love she pours into her food. The cafe itself has a charming, rustic cabin ambiance, complete with a small gift shop and impressive photos of famous personalities adorning the walls. We will definitely return to share this gem with friends during our mountain trips. It’s absolutely worth the short detour from the main road to... View menu
