I absolutely love Bob Chinn's! The service is consistently excellent, regardless of which server you have. The seafood is fresh, tasty, and served promptly.

Came back to my old stomping grounds and enjoyed a great lunch with my mom at this old staple. We had scallops, king crab empanadas, basa chargrilled and passion fruit cheesecake. Great service and not a long wait at all! So glad we got to eat here on our first day back home super special!

Our server, Luanne, was amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The crab vermicelli and stuffed mushrooms were absolutely delicious! We enjoy meeting our family who lives in the Chicago suburbs at this restaurant since it's a convenient midpoint for us coming from Milwaukee. I typically have reservations about ordering seafood in the Midwest unless I'm at a nicer establishment due to concerns about freshness. However, I feel completely at ease at Bob Chin's. The restaurant is large and always bustling, which gives me confidence that the seafood is fresh due to the high volume of customers. The service is attentive, and the atmosphere is lively and energetic.

One of my favorite places to eat when I fly to Chicago for work... I eat here every time I come! So many good things on the menu so it's hard to recommend a favorite. However, my typical go to is the king crab but I tried the bites this time which are basically the knuckles/joints of the legs. The meat is good but every joint has some cartilage on both pieces so just be aware of that. I really like the potatoes so I usually get those as my side along with the green beans. Next, we enjoyed the garlic rolls, which were fantastic—warm with a slightly crispy exterior and a soft interior. For appetizers, we tried the clam chowder and shrimp cocktail. The clam chowder was excellent, filled with large chunks of clam and not overly rich. The shrimp cocktail featured sizeable, fresh shrimp that were delicious. For dinner, I chose the Alaskan king crab while my husband had the swordfish. Both dishes were outstanding, with generous portions, and the sides were equally plentiful and tasty. We enjoyed: 1/2 dozen raw oysters, $12 Frutti Di Mare, $30 (wife's) blackened ahi tuna with grilled onions, $29 (mine) a draft serving of Maplewood's Juice Jorts hazy pale ale, 6.0% ABV, $10.Shani was our wonderful server and a veteran of 30 years here at Bob Chinn's. We dined here on a Monday night and found the restaurant pleasantly uncrowded. We were seated right away at our table for two. We kicked off our evening with some beers (passed on the Mai Tais this time), garlic rolls, seafood gumbo soup, and fried calamari. The seafood gumbo was decent but could have used a bit more rice on the side and a little more meat. We ordered carryout for three dishes: lobster meat, Mediterranean whole sea bass, and crabmeat vermicelli. For the lobster meat, we opted for the Cantonese style, which features a stir-fry in soy and pepper sauce. It turned out to be quite delicious, exceeding our expectations. The lobster meat is served with two side dishes. A tip for the best experience is to enjoy the lobster with plenty of rice. The rice absorbs the soy and pepper sauce beautifully, and you can order steamed Jasmine white rice as a side.
