The food is excellent, but the staff is quite occupied, making it difficult to request refills or anything else you may need.

I'm really sad it's closed! It had the best breakfast in Eagle River and Chugiak! The service was pretty slow, but it was definitely worth the wait.

While I miss the original concept of this café, I still believe they serve an excellent breakfast and have cleverly adapted to stay in business. I highly recommend setting aside time to enjoy breakfast here.

Chugiak Cafe is one of Alaska's timeless treasures. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, offering excellent service. This cozy and inviting place is rich in history, making it a true privilege to spend time there.

We absolutely adore this place! From the charming vintage decor to the incredible food and the nostalgic owner, Trig, everything is perfect. The Chugiak Cafe has a delightful small-town atmosphere combined with warm hospitality, and it now features an expanded restaurant area with a roastery. We visit often and highly recommend it to everyone. Our family especially loves Trig's specialty homemade Biscuits and Gravy and the Bacon Waffles. Give Chugiak Cafe a try—you won’t regret it! The service here is consistently excellent, and the owner roasts the beans on-site. The locals are friendly and make for great conversation. You're welcome to bring your dog, as long as they are friendly with both people and other pets. I absolutely love this place! I recommend trying The Bomber, which is a delicious waffle topped with fresh bacon and a sunny-side-up egg. Don't forget to grab some beans to grind fresh at home. Oh, and one more thing: you get free coffee with any order!

Their signature dish is biscuits and gravy, but naturally, I decided not to order it since I'm not a fan of that dish in general. I love biscuits and I enjoy gravy, but when it comes to eating biscuits with a fork and knife as if they were a mini steak—I just can’t get into it. I still wanted to try the gravy, so I opted for Trig’s Special, which is a delicious reindeer sausage and veggie hash topped with gravy. I can certainly vouch for it, as well as the gravy—it was fantastic. The coffee was excellent too, and the service was both prompt and friendly.

The dining room is filled with even more interesting artifacts to admire while you wait for your food. We both ordered the biscuits and gravy— I got the full order, and she ordered a half—but neither of us could finish the generous portions. The biscuits were homemade, country-style, and incredibly fresh, while the sausage gravy had the perfect consistency and was loaded with sausage chunks. The staff were enthusiastic and attentive, always keeping our cups filled and ensuring our needs were met. It's a small spot, but the service is excellent and comes with a smile. I think we’ve found our new go-to place for weekend breakfasts! View menu
