"June 25, 2022: Today, I had the Surf & Turf Burrito, wet with salsa verde. This burrito is massive! It's both delicious and filling, so be careful not to overindulge in chips or you might not be able to finish it! June 11, 2022: I tried the Camarones a la Plancha for lunch today, and it was fantastic! The plate featured plenty of perfectly pan-fried shrimp, along with rice, beans, salad, and shredded lettuce. June 4, 2022: We dined there for the first time and I ordered the Chile Verde dinner. The pork was tender, and there was an abundance of delicious food! May 21, 2022: The Albondigas Soup is truly delightful, filled with four tasty meatballs. May 8, 2022: The Birria was perfect on a cool spring day! It’s a hearty bowl of beef soup, loaded with flavorful beef, and paired with freshly made tortillas—there was no room left for dessert! April 24, 2022: The Super Tacos live up to their name and are even better on Sundays when they're served with homemade tortillas, which are only made on that day. Just a note, this restaurant is relatively new, having opened about 10-11 months ago. Any reviews older than that likely refer to the previous establishment. April 3, 2022: I had the street tacos today, featuring four different fillings, and they were excellent! Next time, I plan to try the Super Tacos made with their own tortillas. The owner mentioned they could make the street tacos using their homemade tortillas. March 20, 2022: I sampled the Carne en su Jugo, a special dish from the owner's home state of Jalisco. It was scrumptious! This beef stew, which comes with bacon, beans, diced onions, and avocado, also includes fresh tortillas. They even showed me the process of making them to order in the kitchen. Check out the pictures I took of the process! March 13, 2022: I think this is a new restaurant that has opened in place of another Mexican restaurant that closed down during the pandemic. Therefore, any reviews prior to this should not be associated with El Tapense. March 13, 2022: We loved the place so much last Sunday that we returned to try more dishes from their menu! First, we had the Vegan Sopa Azteca—what a creamy, rich soup, more like a stew! Next was the Albondigas Soup, perfect for a cool, cloudy day. I would happily order it again after I’ve had a chance to explore other menu items. Finally, we enjoyed the Two Vegan Enchiladas again! We can’t wait to return next Sunday to try something else from the menu, and hopefully, we’ll have the chance to enjoy some freshly made tortillas! March 6, 2022: This was our first visit to El Talpense. We arrived right as they opened on Sunday, eager to try their extensive menu, which spans 7-8 pages and includes a variety of vegan items along with classic Mexican fare. I ordered the Chorizo Con Huevo, Al Pastor Taco, chips, and guacamole. We definitely plan to return next week to sample more dishes from that impressive menu. I asked the owner if they plan to offer a vegan version of the Chorizo Con Huevo, and they are working on it to match the deliciousness of what I had today!"

This is by far the best Tacos al Pastor in the area. They have Taco Tuesday, and both the tacos and margaritas are absolutely worth it. It can get busy, which is a great indication of how good this place is.

Five stars are not enough! Food is great and affordable! The servers are great and friendly. Service is especially fantastic for people with allergies. Even the food is packed properly when you take out. I wish I could give more stars to this place!

This is a wonderful little Mexican restaurant that offers a great value for a nice, yet affordable lunch near campus. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the dining area is usually quite peaceful—perfect for when you're in a hurry. It can get lively in the evenings, especially during games when people come to watch, but overall, it's typically a fantastic spot. When compared to other options in the area, the quality here is unbeatable.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I’m a big fan of Californian burritos, and this place absolutely delivers on that front. If you're looking for something special, definitely try the Birria Quesadilla—it's phenomenal. Delicious tacos!! Not to mention they hook it up with mouth watering grilled onions that are so perfectly caramelized, I'm getting sweaty just thinking of them! The salsas are equally amazing -I'd recommed the verde which has some decent ? spice ?. The Northside establishments have really been hit hard by the pandemic and most foot traffic is focused on Southside, so if you can make the trip and want to support a local business, you won't be dissapointed. The staff are wonderfully attentive and the food is top notch, El Talpense has my SoCal endorsement!

This restaurant offers a large and diverse vegan menu! The vegan refried beans were delightful—definitely more flavorful than most non-vegan options. I was thrilled to find vegan enchiladas on the menu. I highly recommend the vegan fajita quesadilla; it's crispy on the outside and creamy with cheese on the inside, complemented by caramelized onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. The vegan Aztec soup is vibrant, creamy, tangy, and quite filling. The owners are very gracious, and the place is clean, cheerful, and spacious with fun decor.
