"Beef Patties: 5/5 – These had one of the best crusts I've ever tasted on a patty. A great patty relies on a crispy, flaky outer crust that crumbles into tiny bits with each bite. They nailed it, leaving me with crumbs all over my shirt! Jerk Chicken: 4/5 – The flavor was great, and the chicken was tender and fairly moist. I usually prefer jerk pork, but they were unfortunately out of it during my visit. Curry Goat: 4/5 – The taste was spot on, but the meat could have been stewed a bit longer for that melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. While it wasn't tough, I'm used to much softer pieces of goat. I also would have appreciated more sauce or gravy. Oxtail: 4.5/5 – I highly recommend this dish to those new to Jamaican cuisine. It features a rich, savory gravy cooked down with tender, succulent pieces of beef tail, laden with collagen and fat. The only downside for me was that their recipe is a bit sweeter than what I’m accustomed to. Regardless, served over white rice, this dish is absolutely delicious."

Delicious! The curry chicken is incredibly flavorful and falls right off the bone. The slaw is really tasty, and the jerk chicken is excellent! View menu

This might be the best Jamaican food you'll find in the entire state. Don’t hesitate to stop by and give them a try because it will definitely be worth your time!

My husband is Jamaican, and we decided to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, he found it to be the worst food he's ever had and would not recommend it. The prices are quite high for what you get – we received a large portion of rice but barely any meat. The plantains were so overcooked that they were inedible. Overall, I highly do not recommend this place.

"I am far from a restaurant connoisseur nor do I leave reviews on any establishment regularly. But I have to say the food and drinks are top notch and they serve one of the best French dip sandwiches I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had quite a few in my time, at quite a few different restaurants on Long Island. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to look at some of the reviews for this particular establishment And I found quite a few people who had choice words to say about a business they’ve probably never owned or personally run themselves and about a profession they’ve probably never worked in themselves meaning being a restaurant owner and/or a waiter or waitress but they have plenty to say about it. One review says about how it needs to be updated, well I don’t know if you’ve noticed the name of the place but it’s the old city Public House not the new city Public House, it’s rustic and charming. Another reviewer made comments about the “older woman” waitress who works there and how she has “no personality” I will agree that she’s a little rough around the edges but she is a pissa and I don’t know too many waitresses that can handle an entire restaurant by herself and seemingly pay attention to all the tables that she’s serving so she means business and I guess that could be misconstrued as “grumpy”, said in another review. If you’re looking for really good food and a rustic charming atmosphere with a no nonsense waitress who’s going to get your order correct and make sure that you have everything you need throughout your dining experience then this is the place."
