"I’ve been on the hunt for great Chinese food lately albeit with a requirement of good vegetarian options.Golden Fu Wah came up when I cross searched for reviews regarding the vegetarian menu.I am delighted to say that Golden Fu Wah really exceeded my expectations on the main course dishes.Ordered a vegetable chow fun low sodium without asking and it was done really well without too much brown sauce you get at other places.Ordered a Mapo Tofu it was a delightful mix of soft tofu, great saucing and diced garlic. Nom nom nom. Also got the Bok Choy with Black Mushrooms another amazing dish that knocked it out of the park. Lightly spiced with delicate slices of ginger. The Jasmine tea was great too.The only thing we weren’t a hundred percent sure we’d get again was the wasabi yam sticks. The wasabi was within the breading and so lost their potency when served. All in all, excellent home style Chinese food. I can’t believe this gem has been around for 7 years and this is the first time I’d visited. One other thing, while there is takeout business, I do think that rising rent is taking a toll on them. Hoping for more local support for the business. I can’t wait to go back again"

Not here for years. Restaurant is extremely tired. But very very CLEAN. I had a big hot and sour and steamed egg rolls. Absolutely the best. My husband had Mongolian Beef looked so good that I caught a piece of beef. The best I ever had was my husband. If you can come across the tired view of the place, the food was worth it. View menu

Amazing authentic Cantonese style Chinese food! Great service and the portions were generous. A real authentic restaurant run by a great staff. The orange chicken was very popular with my daughters! Chicken was juicy and the sauce had the perfect flavoring. Will definitely come back. Parking in the back lot was easy and large.

Golden Fu Wah has become my and my partners favorite spot for Chinese food in the Santa Cruz area! The seaweed tofu soup, shrimp chow mein, general tao's chicken, and their egg rolls have consistently been flavorful and well portioned. The environment is cozy and the people who have helped us have always been welcoming! Thanks for the amazing food!

We arrived a week and got a lot of dishes (bean pastes, potstickers, green beans, sweet basil chicken, veggie chow mine)! Each of them was very tasty. I'm a vegetarian and my husband eats meat. He said the basil chicken was very good and unique. The Chow mine was beautiful (not too bold as other places), and I really liked the bean pastes rolls. Jenny was our waitress and she was very friendly and gave good service! I guess they also wear masks and gloves and follow all safety protocols. View menu

We came in on a weeknight and got a lot of dishes (bean paste buns, potstickers, green beans, sweet basil chicken, veggie chow mein)! Each of them were very tasty. Golden Fu Wah is consistently the best Chinese and Chinese-American in the county. I have never been disappointed by my experience here, and I am often impressed by the quality of the ingredients used to prepare dishes. On our most recent visit, we ordered orange chicken with broccoli, vegetable chow nein, and hot sour soup. The chicken was tender and moist with sauce that was flavorful but not overly sweet. I could tell that real orange peel zest had been used to flavor the sauce, not just sugar like budget places. The soup was perfect. Just the right consistency, not too watery or too thick. The spice hits on the first spoonful, and it stays with you without detracting from the flavor of t...

"I always thought this was a tiny Mexican restaurant and felt like an idiot to discover it's American-style cuisine with a bar and outdoor patio. The food and service are excellent and quite literally the coolest place is the bar area. This local staple has been here 28 years and owned by the same person. The only thing they don't have is breakfast. Jeanette is the treasure here, although all the employees seemed cool, despite many being younger. They have wine and spirits, but my focus was the six taps of local craft brew from Discretion, Coronado, Corralito's and North Coast Pacific. Corralito's is far up in the hills behind Aptos and I never get up there, but fortunately they get kegs every week. The Richter Red Ale is excellent. It's nice you can sit in the bar and have lunch easily and without a reservation or huge rush. The pastrami sandwich was excellent and I'd expect everything here to be good from the other patrons food I saw. They have a happy hour from 3-5PM where drinks are $2 off, but really the only negative is everything is pricey and it can be occasionally difficult to park if it's busy. I think $9 for beer is quixotic but they have excellent food and service, plus it's a relaxing ambience that also can be cordoned off for groups. The closest thing to Mexican food they have is the Taco Salad btw...in case you wondered. I expected to get an enchilada plate or taquitos and had no idea how wrong I'd been for years driving by. This is also a good place to eat if your going to visit Discretion Brewing in the same parking lot. If that's not good enough, you can buy weed, furniture and mattresses next door as well as a Safeway, Best Buy and Home Depot across the street. So, the location is convenient for doing errands after or meeting folks, being right off PCH. They have parking spots in the front for takeaway orders, with the rest of us using the carpark behind the restaurant. In case you wondered, this was a restaurant 28 years ago before Cafe Cruz, but before that, it was originally a private residence, hence the intensive repurposing you observe today. There's one other small house which survives today in the carpark and the defunct breakfast/lunch place behind Cafe Cruz is slated to open as something similar as Cafe Opal was, with breakfast and lunch only. If Cafe Cruz had breakfast, I don't think any restaurants would ever survive behind them. Cafe Cruz reminds me a little of a favorite family-owned chain in Los Angeles called Hof's Huts (now defunct) but had a very similar model, with a bakery and all-day breakfast being the difference. Anyway, if you can, sit in the bar if Jeanette's working. She knows all the restaurants history and is cool."
