"When I placed my order over the phone, the gentleman I spoke with was quite rude. When I arrived, I found the place almost empty, with only two patrons in the corner. I ordered egg foo yong, shrimp fried rice, and garlic pepper wings, which came to a total of $36. Upon getting home, I discovered that the gravy for the egg foo yong was simply thrown into a box without a lid, resulting in hot gravy spilling all over my car and contaminating the other food items. The shrimp egg foo yong was drenched in so much soy sauce that it resembled beef egg foo yong instead. As for the garlic pepper wings, there was so much garlic on them that it felt overwhelming. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The man’s attitude was terrible, and when I called to express my concerns, he informed me that they’ve never used containers. I won’t be returning."

I visited for the first time and found the noodles to be greasy and overcooked. The peppered beef didn’t have much pepper flavor, although it was still acceptable. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot, with flies buzzing around and a lack of cleanliness. I won’t be coming back. View menu

The food was average, nothing to write home about, but the most shocking part was when my daughter discovered a roach in her meal. This was our first and definitely our last time ordering from here. I’m completely disgusted by this place. Make sure to check your food if you decide to eat here, and I really hope their kitchen is sanitary.

Pretty bummed, I've lived up the street for a few years and had always wanted to try the food.So my girl and I swing by for a quick meal and man we're we unhappy with our experience... for starters the tables were Gros s feeling and looking... place had an awkward smell to it and the food was poor, we would have been better off just going to panda or something similar.

The service is also lacking. When there are only 4-5 diners, it shouldn't just be a matter of taking orders and dropping off the food. You can forget about them checking in on you, refilling empty glasses, or asking how the food is. It's puzzling that they've been in business for so long. There are plenty of other healthy dining options in El Cajon with excellent service and meals that won't leave you reaching for Pepto-Bismol afterward. View menu

Kips is permanently closed. When I called to place an order, the person who answered the phone informed me that the business has shut down and the owner is retiring. Yelp should update the listing for Kips Cafe in El Cajon to reflect this closure. I will miss their delicious egg rolls and the super tasty Kung Pao chicken, which were our go-to orders. I wish the owner the best in retirement, but it would have been nice to see a sign announcing the last day of business.

My boyfriend and I were thrilled to support a local business around here, especially with all of the wonderful reviews. I asked the hostess for their best dish and she gave me the garlic chili chicken and we also ordered the BBQ chicken with lo Mein and egg flower soup. I’m very sad to report that nearly every item was a disappointment. Chicken was overcooked, bland and tasted like it was old food that was refried from a previous order or day. Egg flower soup tasted like hard boiled egg water with eggs floating in it and the bbq chicken was slimy and tasted not fresh. We were both pretty grossed out.We don’t enjoy complaining and this is my first review on here, but I feel like maybe the own...
