Mayahuel is under new ownership—do not be fooled! This is not the place it used to be. The drinks are watered down and the menu is now a very misguided mix of Mexican appetizers and middle eastern/Mediterranean entrees. Service is hilariously inept.

Absolutely awful! Nothing like what it used to be under the new owners. I’m so sad because that was the best and was once my favorite restaurant. The queso fundido literally had the texture of Elmer’s crazy glue that just kept getting chewier and chewier as you ate.

We absolutely love Maya Mezcal and this was our third visit to the restaurant. The cocktails are creative and consistently excellent. Our server didn’t greet us for the first minutes we were there, although she was delivering drinks and food to the tables on both sides of ours. Drinks were great, guacamole was too. The queso was over cooked causing the cheese to curdle. The tacos arrived cold, and the chicken and beef tacos were mostly gristle.

We were excited to hear this place was reopening but we were supremely disappointed. They need to officially change the name as everything about this place has not changed, less the interior which they left thankfully. That is about the only positive thing I can say about this place. Nothing like the old spot unfortunately.

They seated us minutes after our reserved time. It wasn’t an issue with OpenTable we could see the reservation on their system. They simply weren’t prepared. There was no apology for our delayed seating. The food ranged from terrible (a paella that seemed to have come out of a Trader Joe’s box) to mediocre (decent meat was made mediocre by Walmart tortillas). The drinks were pretty good. They have a wide selection of mezcal. The service was otherwise okay. The bathroom featured the toilet cleaning brush in a plastic box in the middle of the floor. And hopefully no one was waiting because the door didn’t lock. Would not return. View menu
