"If you would like to experience authentic Puerto Rican cuisine, no cafeteria style food here, this is your only stop. Famous ;Mofongo ; served in a ;Pilon ;, as it would be in the best restaurants in Puerto Rico, with all the traditional stuffings from Lobster to Octopus. Other tradional dishes such as ;Serenata ; (Codfish salad) or ;Pinion ; (delicious Puerto Rican Lasagna made with Plantains and Cheese) can be sampled individually or from their Sunday Brunch. Desserts such as ;Bienmesabes ; come in assorted flavors from ;Pina Colada ; to ;Guava ;, and are homemade. Homemade ;Pique ; will tickle your taste buds when dipping your ;Alcapurrias de Jueyes ;. Finish it all off with a glass of ;Coquito ; for an authentic meal that will remind you of your ;abuela 's ; cooking. The walls are filled with original artwork depicting scenery from the motherland. You could listen to anything from Tito Puente to Marc Anthony from constant music piped into the dining room. The owner is usually onsite making sure you are satisfied with food and service. I am a Miami raised Puerto Rican who enjoys fine dining. I have visited others, from Downtown Coral Gables to Broward County...., none compare. I visit often to re-kindle my love for the island and highly recommend Old San Juan. It’s an experience you will come back to."

The Best of the Best Puerto Rican food in Miami. I love it! It's expensive but the food is delicious.

This is a great moderately priced Restaurant. Not a sophisticated wine place. This is a place for those that like food as prepared in Puerto Rico at a very low price.

As someone from a Puerto Rican family, I have a deep appreciation for traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. After relocating to Miami from New Jersey, I noticed that there aren't many Puerto Rican restaurants around. I've visited The Old San Juan several times, and I absolutely love the authentic dishes they offer. It brings back fond memories of my grandmother's kitchen. If you're in the area, it's definitely a place you need to try!

Old San Juan was recommended by a native son, three joined for dinner. The waiter spoke NO ENGLISH, (wearing street clothes there were five other guest this peak Friday Evening. Stumbling through the menu, (English translation, selected an entree as an appetiser. Three other entrees was ordered. The atmosphere is not offensive (nice NO WINE LIST (only one red wine to offer . All of the entrees were bordering on tasteless. It seems that the chef's best training was microwave. Warm, tasteless, dry, warmed over, flavorless and served like you might expect from a homeless shelter. No bread, no butter, no water, that's a lot of No's Yeah but I know, that there is no way no how, no way I will reco...

"If you want to find, arguably, the best bandeja paisa in Miami, this just might be the place. Not your typical hole in the wall, cheap eats but definitely a quaint and enjoyable sit down experience. Ventured here after my craving got too intense and I went to old faithful Yelp for guidance. Although relatively new, the pictures of the food really sold me and I brought some hungry souls along with me. We ordered some empanadas Colombianas, super fresh and steaming hot! The sauces they serve them with was also perfect. For entrees, we went with a Calentado Paisa the Bandeja Paisa (this one was twice the price but very hearty and more than enough for two good eaters). We also each went with some natural juices fruit limonadas coconut lime sounds odd but it works! I opted to not give the full 5 stars because of several reasons that I think they can easily fix: 1. Nicely and simply decorated but little ambiance overall adding a little authentic Colombian music or more cultural touches could help 2. The waiter was nice but kept trying to push more and more on us... even mentioning that the bandeja paisa was a decent portion but not enough for two people (it was actually more than enough and we both left stuffed) 3. Ordered a sancocho de res and although taste wasn't bad, the meat was rough and you could tell coloring had been added seems like a typical case of not having had enough time to cook it properly as it does take hours to make a proper sancocho Quality of the food is evident and I will definitely be going back to fix my next craving!"
