"Not intending to dine out much while on our Quadra Island trip, we stopped by to visit April Point lodge and fell in love with the phenomenal setting and scenery and wanted to take more of it in so decided on reservations for dinner at the restaurant.Sitting across from Campbell River on the the famous Discovery Channel along the Inside Passage, APRS sits on a point of land framed by mountains, evergreens trees, the Channel and the lodge - which I might liken to a Hobbit village tucked away in the forest. During only an hour or so sitting on an outermost point of rock with binoculars, we saw lots of Bald eagles, sea lions, and what felt like a near-constant parade of Humpback whales grazing upturned waters caused by a rapidly ebbing tide (the area is well known for its abundance of wildlife and more importantly perhaps its remoteness and resulting lack of throngs of people jockeying for position to view it all).A window or deck seat for dinner puts one in the middle of everything described and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The food was very good (we enjoyed halibut and salmon), the staff very accommodating, and of course the view to die for. We did not stay here only because we had made reservations long before at an AirBnB cabin above Drew Harbor on the other side of the Island facing the Strait of Georgia. I am sure the accommodations here would have been worth it if only for the scenery and view!"

Expensive, overdone, and bland. Sometimes the simple done exceptionally well is better. Amazing view.

The best view ever is from the front deck of the Spa. A wonderfully peaceful setting, that would be great to go with a friend. Everything you would want is offered, and I was glad to see Aveda products there.

I had the fish tacos, they were good, but rather small. Hubby had Fish and Chips, he said they were good. Great staff, very attentive. By sharing your experiences, you're helping travellers make better choices and plan their dream trips. Thank you!

We took the boat shuttle over tomthis breathtaking location, a short 7 minute ride. Views from every angle. The lodge is lovely with very friendly staff and rustic debit. We had drinks and happy hour food. Great taste and presentation. Food was served in good time. You can sit in or outside on the deck above the water. Prices are reasonable.

From the Painters Lodge you can sail across the strait in 10 minutes for 5 dollars p.p., which is fun. If you spend something on the island, you can go back for free. On the other side you can kayak among the curious seals. It's so quiet in that bay. The resort has a terrace where you can eat well when the weather is nice. Inside I found it stuffy and dark. The kids clambered over the rocks and played with the seals! Watch the sun set beautifully over Vancouver Island from the terrace. View menu

It was not what I would have expected based on word-of-mouth and it's great location. The pros:1) The fries were good2) The view is great. The cons:1) The staff moved in slow motion at a mid-afternoon lunch. Nobody was in any hurry to get us drinks, menus, etc. It was odd.2) Inattentive staff. One would expect to be able to get a water refill or a server to check in?3) Food seemed not the best food. I had a mussels dish that I'd had much better in landlocked provinces, inexplicably. We won't be going back.

Had a late lunch after driving around Quadra Island. The restaurant at April Point is nicely appointed but the outdoor patio could use some updating. The menu seemed to be quite small and did not offer a lot of variations. We both opted for the fish and chips with cod. We found the fish to be nice and fresh but the fries seemed dry and the coleslaw was awful. I really can't describe the coleslaw but it was made in a goopy sauce that there was far too much of and it lacked everything in taste. Next time I'll order a salad and skip the coleslaw all together.
