"In a landscape filled with strip malls offering various Asian dining options, Palaminos stands out as likely the only place for Mexican food within a block in any direction. I tried the Del Mar Burrito, which was a generous size and packed with fried fish, shrimp, and rice, all coming together for a delightful bite. My wife ordered a fish taco, which featured well-prepared fried fish—not overly crispy, which was a nice touch. It came topped with salad and tartar sauce instead of the typical cabbage and white sauce, perhaps reflecting a California style rather than what you’d expect in Arizona. The side of rice was also tasty. If you ever find yourself near the Daiso shop and craving Mexican food for lunch, I highly recommend a visit to Palaminos."

Exterior says Palomino; however, interior said Las Penas billing also. Good food, very talkative staff.

The sign outside says Palomino, but inside it also features Las Peña's menu. The food is excellent, and the staff is very attentive.

The Caldos all looked good, so went with Aboldigas. Very hot (temperature not spicy level) so was able to take my time enjoying my bowl.

I and my mother went here and the lady worked on this day so nice and helpful it was quiet inside and there were hardly any customers in the time it was nice. The food was good. We had both rolled tacos?????????? and a drink? View menu

Every single thing I've ordered from here has been outstanding. The menudo is incredible, the breakfast burritos are amazing and they have the only california burrito I've ever had that still tastes great the next day. I can't explain how great this place is.

The chilaquiles were super good and the surf and turf burrito was just ok (it is probably good for others I just didn?t like the carne/shrimp mix). Ofelia was very kind and friendly! The cucumber water is a nice touch. No wait, good food, and fast service? we will definitely be back!

I ordered Chilaquiles. When asked how I wanted my eggs, I got a bit confused and mentioned that I didn’t want any onions. When my plate arrived, the eggs were pretty casual and there were onions on the dish. I returned it, and the kitchen staff just removed the onions instead of making a new dish. View menu

Large portions great bang for your buck! The quesadilla tasted good. The guy working at the counter was very friendly and helpful. Only comment was the beans and guac were a little cold, but it?s somewhat understandable since I went mid afternoon and the food was probably leftover from lunch hours.

Ordered chilaquiles. Was asked how I wanted my eggs I said scrambled. And that I wanted no onions. When I received my plate the eggs were over easy very runny and had onions. I took it back and kitchen staff had an attitude. They didn?t even make a newplate they just picked the onions off (leaving some behind).

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
