"We went to PIO's to try something different and to be honest from the outside it's a little difficult to tell what kind of restaurant it is. When we got inside you can feel the South American vibe and once we were seated he explained it was a Peruvian restaurant. The menu is in Spanish with English descriptions underneath which may throw you off a bit at first. The waiter came over and asked us if we had been before and since we hadn't he went over the menu with us in detail. It's mainly chicken but they also offer beef, pork and fish/seafood. The main differences with the items on the menu is the sides. They have fries, rice, plantain as well as salads and all sorts of other things. I had the chicken with plantain and feta that was delicious! I love that they have that as an option because you don't need it much in Canada and I've only ever had it while visiting South America. My boyfriend had the chicken with fries and little cut up sausages on it, he said that they were quite delicious but the fries were pretty average. The chicken was slightly on the dry side but had a great flavor and I don't usually like the skin but the way they cooked it, it was very buttery and delicious. Along with all the meals you get their 4 house sauces, they're all very different and I really wasn't sure I'd like many of them but I loved every single one! They have a yellow kind of cheesy dip that was probably the least flavorful but was great on the plantain, then there was a green dip that I don't even know how to describe but it was great on the chicken then there was a hot sauces that was so delicious and very spicy and lastly like a garlic aioli type mayo dip that was delicious on everything! All in all a great dinning experience with a great staff!"

Went with a friend that was familiar with the menu. Started with ceviche and had the rotisserie chicken. Both were amazing. Definitely will go again. Desert was also excellent.

If you are looking for a stellar chicken meal in the NE, this place is stellar. A nice environment, friendly staff and really really good chicken. They also have a good variety of sauces here.

Food is not bad, what makes it awfully bad is customer service, they started out good when they just opened unfortunately now that they've gain popularity, service really suck. Definitely not coming back.

A prime example of small, local, independent business doing things extremely well. From the moment we entered the door we were greeted with smiles & informative customer service. We had the ceviche, beef hearts, and cocktails for appetizers. Chicken & paella for mains. Everything was well presented & tasty. We will return. View menu

We were looking for something interesting and close to the airport hotels. The food is simple and really well prepared. Location is odd, Pio is located in a strip mall. The style is family friendly and casual. Plastic water glasses and laminated menus. But everything we tried was delicious. Chicken was tender and moist. Ceviche was amazing. Peruvian drinks were good. Including the Chardonnay and the Pisco. Angel cake was delicious and not too sweet

We had just arrived in Calgary after being on the road for 14 hours and wanted a home cooked meal. The server met us at the door and was friendly and welcoming. He provided my daughters with a "trip around Peru" by explaining all of the sites captured in the restaurant photos He explained the menu, and even let us try purple corn juice. The chicken was fantastic, as were the sides. The whole experience made you feel like you'd been welcomed into someone's home.

What a refreshing change from the norm. Ethnic, friendly and uniquely delicious cuisine to please every kind of pallet. We didn't make reservations for a Thursday night but many people did and we would have almost needed to. The place fills up fast due to the smaller size but it means better, quicker service. With so many different options for chicken, beef and fish we will definitely be back. Our food and beverage was amazing as was the service and reasonably priced. Go here on your next date night. It'll be a fun and delicious experience. View menu

A friend did some dining reconnaissance in the area near my Calgary hotel and asked if I like Peruvian food. I didn’t know at the time, but can say now that I do. Very much.Pio Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken is located in a nondescript suburban mall and I would never have been enticed by a walk-by - unless I noticed that inside, the place was packed with happy customers - as it was when we dined there one afternoon a few months ago. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the Plantain I ordered with it was a great accompaniment. It’s a family run business and the service was friendly and fast. We had a delicious meal with a delicious (and unusual) assortment of dessert items, including the Alfajor...

Difficult to give this restaurant a rating... in the context of a Peruvian restaurant in Calgary, it could probably have 4 stars but in Peru it would be 3 or less. It is definitely good compared to other restaurants in Calgary but it would not cut it in Peru which is the culinary capital of south / central America. For somebody wanting to try something different or have a taste of what Peruvian food has to offer is a great alternative. I have been there a couple of times already and I would recommend it... I think the Lomo Saltado and its variations are very good. I had the special of the day which was Pescado a lo macho, trout in seafood sauce, which was very good as well... everything nicel...
