"Nippon is a genuine Japanese restaurant where you can savor a satisfying meal with attentive service in a charming ambiance. While the prices of the food and drinks may seem a bit high for what you receive, you are paying for the overall dining experience. Our order included a Yellowtail Scallion Roll for $9, Tempura S for $18, and Sukiyaki L for $39, along with a Sake carafe for over $30 and a glass of plum wine, totaling close to $150 for two people. This is not your everyday dining spot unless you have the budget for it. The service and atmosphere, however, were exceptional. Despite arriving 30 minutes early for our reservation, the staff warmly welcomed us and promptly seated us in a cozy dining area separated from other patrons. This private setting allowed us to enjoy our meal peacefully. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the portions of the different dish sizes. The food was good overall, although the portion sizes may not entirely justify the prices. The Sushi roll was tasty but nothing extraordinary, while the Tempura assortment was enjoyable, especially with the flavorful dipping sauce. The Sukiyaki broth was sweet and delicious, enhancing the flavors of the tofu and vegetables in the dish. The white rice was authentic, resembling what one would find in a typical Japanese household. The meat in the Sukiyaki was a bit tough, and it did not come with raw eggs for dipping, as is customary. I recommend Nippon for a lovely and intimate meal with family or in a professional setting where you can enjoy your meal in a serene environment with attentive service."

Delicious, authentic Japanese food. Great service. The food is delicious and high quality. The noodles are incredible, and their salad is so unique and excellent. My daughter liked the fried chicken appetizer so much and got a second order for dessert!

Four of us ordered Makunouchi Bento for lunch. It was disappointing. Very small amount of sashimi and their chicken karate was cold and hard. For most of the part, rice and vegetable. Four of us are Japan-born Japanese and know Japanese cuisine. It is very sad they raised the price considerably but fail to maintain quality. Oh, we also ordered Anmitsu as a desert. One of the worst anmitsu we ever had. It seems they mixed the canned anmitsu and some mudiocre tasting cubed fruits.?another disappointment.

Bottom line: do not come here for omakase. Wanted to introduce the omakase experience to my partner for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, I don't think it was a proper introduction. The sushi came out all in one plate which I've never had before, but I accepted it as a precaution for covid 19. I wasn't too bothered by the fact that the sushi rice was pretty cold, I was more bothered by the tough cuts of fish I had to spit out part of the yellowtail sushi because it felt like a bone or scale. The uni I had did not taste fresh or of the sea, it didn't taste like uni at all and I also decided not to consume it. I am not a nit picky diner, but for the cost of omakase we did not get the same attent... View menu

We made an 8:45pm reservation. We did not realize they close at 9:15pm. We arrived for dinner and were asked to order within 7 minutes of arriving. We asked to order another set of sushi at 9pm and we're told that was all we could order. When the server told the sushi chefs they threw their tools down on the counter and were visibly angry that we ordered additional food. The staff hovered over us grabbing our plates as quickly as possible. We requested the bill and the server said that they add gratuity to the bill which seemed odd. The experience was poor and we ordered, ate, paid our bill and were leaving the restaurant by 9:20pm. The restaurant has a lot if tension and provides service as...

A Slice of Japan in the Heart of NYC: Restaurant Nippon Restaurant Nippon has been a fixture in New York for over 60 years, now likely in the capable hands of its third generation of owners. This sense of tradition is palpable from the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is refreshingly authentic—neither overly commercial nor catering to tourists. The entire setting transports you straight into the heart of a small Japanese town, with every detail reflecting the owner's dedication and love for the business. Nothing feels rushed, and everything is done with care. We had the pleasure of trying the 寿喜烧 (sukiyaki), which exceeded all expectations in both flavor and presentation. Another st...
