"Old school German restaurant in Bay Ridge. Definitely has its crowd of regulars. Came on a Friday night for dinner and they had live music which was a nice treat. The service was extremely slow but we weren't in a rush. We ordered the steak salad and a Bavarian pretzel to start. We didn't realize that our entrees came with salad so next time I'd skip the steak salad. The steak wasn't as tender as I had hoped it would be. The pretzel was warm and salty, but salty in the way you want a warm pretzel to be, it was delicious. I especially enjoyed the grainy mustard. I ordered the rahmschnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and it was rich and tasty. My husband ordered the wienerschnitzel with french fries instead of spaetzle. They brought him spaetzle anyway. His veal cutlets were just that, plain, fried veal cutlets. They could have used a sauce aside from the lemon wedges they came with. The spaetzle was unfortunately bland but the fries mostly made up for that. We also had a couple wheat beers and lagers. Next time I come, I'd like to try some wursts. Overall, it was a good meal with live entertainment."

Schnitzel House catered a surprise Oktoberfest Themed birthday party. The food was amazing and the service spectacular!! I had guests raving about everything they ate with comments that included the best sauerbraten they've ever eaten! And that came from someone who lived in Germany!!

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
