"The location of Skyline Deli in the building might seem like a great marketing strategy, but it only works if they are open during the majority of business hours. If you suddenly realize it’s 2:05 PM and you haven’t eaten yet, don’t expect to find anything worthwhile at the deli, as it’s essentially a food desert at that hour! The salad bar is empty, and the hot food bar has only scraps left. Don’t even bother asking for anything from the fridge; more often than not, they’ll be out of everything you request—no eggs, no black beans, no salad mix... fine, I’ll settle for a cup of cold tuna, I suppose! The food quality leaves much to be desired. If you want further confirmation, just look at the countless other negative reviews. The Phoenix Tower is a lovely space with great new additions and ongoing updates; however, building management should strongly consider replacing the deli with a more modern kitchen or introducing some competition. Skyline Deli seems to have gotten too comfortable serving overpriced, subpar food. As a customer, I shouldn’t feel taken advantage of, yet I often choose to go hungry rather than support the only food option available (Skyline Deli). I’ve held off on writing a review for quite some time, but I was prompted to do so after paying over $5 for a cup of tuna—more than I’d previously paid for half a sandwich. Sometimes, the staff seems to be guessing prices for their poorly advertised menu items. I do appreciate that, upon request, they always give me extra rubbery eggs on my toasted croissant! I might be a bit bitter, but I believe I’m sharing my honest recollections of my experiences. I hope you’ll think twice before embarking on this regrettable culinary adventure."

Great spot for lunch! I haven't visited downtown in a while, but my trip to Skyline Deli was definitely worth it. I highly recommend giving it a try. The baked potato makes a perfect lunch, and the coffee is excellent for the morning.

The positives: the staff are very friendly. However, I wish I could give it a negative 8 stars. The food is extremely bland and overpriced. I've ordered a few times, and each time I’ve been disappointed. Save your money and look elsewhere—you’ll be glad you did.

This place is terrible!!! It's on the 9th floor of the Phoenix Tower on Southwest Freeway Houston Texas and it's got to be the saddest excuse for a deli I've ever seen. Don't bother getting coffee there. It's never warm and they only have two options, decaf **** water or hazelnut flavored rain water. I've almost instantly thrown away every cup I've purchased (5, I've counted) and I can not seem to find anything that was remotely acceptable as a decent pick me up. The staff is fine...just, fine. Don't bother with this place, take the extra five minutes in the morning and hit Starbucks across the street, your gut will thank you! View menu

I can't in good conscience give this place more than one star. I know it is weird to say but I often get breakfast here out of no other reason than convenience. The sausage is bland and the eggs are rubbery and one time they were green. And it was NOT Dr. Seuss's birthday! The ladies who work here are very kind and helpful and I feel bad giving such a bad review but honestly the food is downright awful. The salad dressings are watery, the chicken for the salad is bland and the tuna salad has bell peppers in it. That's just wrong on so many levels. Admittedly I do find that I am left with no option but to grab something from here on occasion, and I always regret it. More than once I've had te...

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
