"I enjoy a nice German meal every now and then, and Speisekammer definitely satisfies. Their staff is always friendly, and the vibe is vibrant. It's a great place for family meals, and they are kid friendly too. We asked for the kid's meal to come out first, and they took care of that right away. The food is homey and delicious. Minus one star for the sticky table we were seated at. What we had... Bratwurst 2 sausages served with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. The sausages were delicious and the sauerkraut was very authentic. Sauerbraten the tri tip was fall apart tender. Jager Schnitzel 2 tender pork cutlets cover with mushroom sauce. Very homey and delicious. Portion was big enough for leftover lunch the next day. Reibekuchen fried potato hash browns with applesauce for dipping. Very crispy and delicious. Needed salt though. Black forest cake this is a denser type of cake and very chocolatey. Yum. Apple strudel order this! Absolutely delicious. Overall, a wonderful place to bring the family."

Authentic german food (for what my friend said who lived in Germany for a few months) extensive menu of food and beer. Plenty of seating, including outdoor patio. Great service.

Our group ordered a little bit of everything and everything was delicious. The location was ideal and the outdoor seating made for a relaxing afternoon. Would highly recommend and will definitely eat here again.

I had an Octoberfest lunch there for 23 Red Hat ladies. This place really went above and beyond to make this a perfect lunch! Service is superior to 90% of restaurants today! Food was great! Not 1 70+ old woman had a negative thing to say! Now they want me to repeat next year! View menu

Clean and inviting. Large portions of authentic and delicious food. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend. Don't park in the parking lot as it's really crazy to get out of. Parking: Tiny parking lot that is crazy to get in and out of. Recommend paying for street parking. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30

We went on a Friday night so it was quite busy and fun ! Live music every friday at 8:30. You can also have private parties here. The food was good but the dessert was THE BEST. I mean that brownie sundae was no average sundae. I kept thinking about it even days after. The drinks are also great, best mulled wine ive had in the states. Will definitely be coming back Service: Dine in

Best sauerkraut ever. No, really. I've eaten a lot of sauerkraut in my life. That's why I'm here. But, let me say this. Their sauerkraut is the star of the meal. Yes, the Wiener schnitzel is excellent crispy and pan fried but not too much. The sausage is also amazing balanced and savory. The spatzel and red cabbage? Also, excellent. But the sauerkraut is sublime. Must go. We'll return. Nice patio space for the kids or dog, indoor space is comfy like the Germans know how. Friendly and inviting. You won't be disappointed. We ate Speisekammer last night. It was our first time there and we loved it. We started with the pretzel with beer cheese dip and it was tasty. I got the pork cutlets and subbed in sauerkraut for the pickle salad. So glad I did! It's the best sauerkraut I've ever had! So flavorful where usually you don't even notice sauerkraut when eating it. The schnitzel was thin, crispy and very delicious. My husband got the sausages with red cabbage and spaetzel. The sausages were really fresh and juicy. The portions were large so we have plenty for lunch later this week. Our waitress was great and helped us pick the right dishes and beers. Was a wonderful dinner We will absolutely come back.

I've been dining at Speikshammer for many years and dined for the first time as a family of four. They were very accommodating and surprisingly, kid-friendly. They sat us in the dining room in the corner booth and it was perfect for my four-year-old and 10-month-old to explore and stretch out. The waitress was very attentive and thoughtful, checking in on us and asking us if we wanted a bag for our to-go boxes. My daughter is quite picky about the mac and cheese and I wasn't sure if she was going to be into the spatzle but she loved it! My husband shared the jager schnitzel which was the perfect amount for us (1 cutlet each with more than enough spatzle). One tip that the waitress mentioned...

"Tasty authentic Vietnamese dishes made in a mom and pop restaurant in Oakland on the corner of East 12th Street and 11th Avenue. We got the Hu Tieu Mi Kho (Dried egg noodles), Pho Dac Biet (Beef Pho with various cuts of beef), and the Bo Kho (beef stew) that comes with a Vietnamese baguette to dip in the stew. These 3 dishes totaled about $45 after taxes. Two of the dishes (dried noodles and the pho) were full of flavor and you can smell and taste some of the traditional spices and herbs that come with them. The Dried egg noodles come with 2 quail eggs, 2 shrimp, a couple slices of pork, slices of pork kidney and liver, minced pork, bits of chicharron (fried pork belly skin), chives, cilantro, green onions, and blanched mung bean sprouts with a bowl of broth on the side. It comes with Vietnamese pickled jalapenos, sate paste, and a soy based sauce to mix in with the noodles. Was very authentic and delicious! There was even minced garlic in the dry noodles, which added another nice layer of flavor to this dish. The second dish, beef stew, although it smelled right, was more of a soup than braised stew. It was watered down (and tasted watered down too) and would have gone better with noodles. Way too watery for the baguette to really dip or scoop up the flavor. Made the bread a soggy mush. Plus there was not that many pieces of beef (they used flank with the membrane intact), and only 2 slices of carrot. We had to scoop to the bottom of the container to raise the beef, above the broth for the photo. Otherwise we almost mistook it for the container of broth for the pho. I would pass on getting the beef stew next time since the value of what you pay and flavor were somewhat lacking. Lastly we tried the pho dac biet and it was tasty with a nice balanced broth before you add the herbs and condiments (hoisin, sriracha, etc). It comes with the usual mung bean sprouts, thai basil, and sliced jalapenos with the raw slices of beef on top (for you to cook by pouring over the boiling broth). Prices are reasonable for the dry noodles and pho, but not the beef stew. While waiting for our takeout order, the husband owner kindly offered us some water or hot jasmine tea to sip while we waited. Inside of the restaurant, there are 7 tables with seating for 4 each, and a longer table with seating for 8 available for dining here. The parking lot across the street that people used to use seems to be closed/chained as a private lot now, so be prepared to find and park on the main streets or neighborhood around the restaurant. It is in a lesser part of Oakland about 5 minutes away from downtown, so be sure to lock your car or use public transit, as there was a lot of trash dumped around the neighborhood. Despite all of this, I would return for their tasty dry noodles and pho. And would be interested to try their other dishes too (minus the beef stew)."
