"I had the impression that this restaurant would be quite expensive, as it has a fine dining atmosphere. However, I noticed that the staff were not wearing uniforms or dressed particularly well, which didn't bother me too much since the quality of the food is what matters most to me. I was disappointed to find that the soup was only half full and had a dirty rim, possibly from spilling when pouring. This suggests to me a lack of attention in the kitchen and during service, as the server or cashier didn’t seem to care. On a positive note, the chicken curry had great flavor and taste, but unfortunately, the chicken was old and very dry. Despite that, I was quite hungry and ate it anyway. The basmati rice was also cold and seemed old, maybe even reheated in the microwave. The naan, however, was very good."

While the momos were a standout, the rest of the food was average at best.

Very good. Dal Tadka was flavorful but had a little too much salt. Table behind me said food had too much salt as well. The garlic naan was also well done but was a little thin. Price was reasonable. View menu

You are on vacation with your old buddies, eating different kind of food but at one point, you crave for your traditional taste. We found this place on our road trip and we simply loved the food. Food was delecious so as the hospitality of staff/owner wecalled her didi). Momos were extra big. So far, this was best food during this trip. Will definitely visit again.

I've been here over 10 times in the last year and they just don't disappoint! They have the best Vindaloo that I have had outside of 2 establishments on Brick Lane in London. I LOVE spicy and they get it exactly right-fabulous heat with great flavor. I have done a mix of take away and dine in. Both are great. The interior is small but comfy and the service is always quick.

Very tasty food, and you can't beat the lunch special. The curries are some of the best I've had. With the special you can choose two entrees, and as a vegetarian I was very happily surprised that they have two choices that perfectly fit my culinarylifestyle. And the naan was truly about the best I've ever had. It is absolutely fresh and thin and lightly crispy. The serviceis great too! View menu

There’s so many options on the menu that there’s pretty much something that everyone could enjoy even the pickiest of people. The inside decoration and music makes you forget you’re eating next to a cvs in California, you really feel like you’re transported. The staff makes sure you’re comfortable with your meal, letting you know what specifically to expect and making sure you have no allergies or bad spice tolerance. This is a great hidden gem in SD.

This is one of the top Indian restaurants in the San Diego area! The food was packed with flavor, and it was clear that they use fresh ingredients and prepare everything from scratch. I was truly impressed! I was also thrilled to see a variety of fantastic vegan options available. If you're sensitive to spice, I recommend asking for a mild preparation. I ordered my dish with medium spice and almost regretted it; it was borderline too spicy for me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal! The service was excellent as well, and I believe the owner is directly involved in the operation.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
