"How funny does a Beer Battle Dinner sound? Let me tell you it was an explosion! Schells Brewing vs Montgomery Brewing with a Turkish theme menu. Each course is paired with a beer chosen by every brewer with a funny twist, not to know what beer comes from the brew. Vote for your favorite pairing after each course and at the end of the night the winner is outdated. I was impressed to listen to the chefs to discuss their vision for this menu from the first hand accounts they took over from the region's visit. To make this real connection to such a unique kitchen, the experience added a depth. After each course the breweries discussed why they chose their pairing of beer, which was interesting as some courses chose them completely different styles. Brewery and chefs kept it short and easy to run the event smoothly and never felt lengthened or a feeling of pulling out that could easily happen with five courses and ten beers! The event was presented for such a large group with an extensive set. I imagine a Turkish theme menu is hard to draw, given the huge selection of spices in the game, but was wonderfully done. The only miss from our table was the dessert course of rice pudding, we simply could not taste/consistency compound, but nevertheless it was a great night and congratulation to Montgomery Brewing for the WIN"

It was a okay experience. A wall of tap handles, but the list of beers were less than the handles. Nothing on the menu sparked my interest. Chicken thigh pieces were OK. Nice and crunchy, but not too flavorful

Worst burger I’ve had in years, clearly from a frozen patty undercooked. Total disappointment. Instead of dry rub wings we received soggy, greasy, deep fried thighs with no seasoning. Beet salad was small overloaded garlicky mash, missing the almonds. The matzo ball soup broth was decent but the matzo ball was a hard lump of dough.

I've been wanting to visit here and we finally stopped in for some beers and snacks on Sunday afternoon. We had poutine and a variety of delicious beers, my fave being the Leinenkugel's Juicy Peach, and played some pull tabs and won! The beer selection here is awesome. The staff was wonderful and we had such a good time. Definitely going back. View menu

Solid brunch spot! We came with a group of 4 and luckily we were able to get a spot at the bar, otherwise reservations are recommended. I had the “This Little Pig” with hashbrowns. The biscuits were delicious and the hashbrowns were perfect. The **** Mary’s were fantastic one of the best we’ve had. Service was pretty quick and friendly. We’d come back here again!

This is very comfortable atmosphere. The clientele, their employees , the decor all fit so well together. I feel it has a touch of history that is not lost within the thresholds of our time. Yet still thrives with the upbeat of the here and now. Excellent from bar to kitchen. If your going for a snit or for the meal and the camaraderie. This is the place to go. I find this to be my escape. Thank you......

I got the chicken sandwich, which was perfect. Service was a little dirty, I had to wait what felt like age for a beverage refill, and it took a long time to receive and pay the check, although we did not share the bill and it was not particularly crowded. I'm sure this is a beautiful place for happy hour and to see a game, and I bet it's really nice in summer when the terrace is in the game. No great Shakes service wise, but decent enough pub food. Amazing food and experience. Started off with the calamari, nice spice and great sauce. The giant pretzel was delicious with both the cheese dip and the pickle dip. Shrimp scampi had the biggest, perfectly cooked shrimp with a nice mix of lemon and herbs the pasta soaked up. The breakfast items are limited, but the egg sandwich hit the spot. There was a slight crust on the strawberry waffles which balanced the sweetness of the strawberry sauce. The bottomless mimosas at only $15 was a win.

What happened to the Gnome? I was late for dinner and I left a little disappointed. Using the menu to be more interesting offers some seasonal specialties. By then are the amazing shells or the bone marrow pots. I just ordered the burger who was nothing unforgettable, just a simple straight burger. My husband ordered the rice bowl floating in water. I miss the old Gnome courts like the duck wings and shells I mentioned earlier. I wish I could say it's on other pubs in St. Paul, but it's really not anymore. Mediocre experience and I would rather spend my money in other more interesting restaurants in the area.
