"We don 't eat at hotel restaurants as a rule, finding them generally to be sub par. But, in Martha 's Vineyard in March the possibilities are few and the reviews were mostly good so that 's where we ended up. It turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. We started with an appetizer that we shared: corn/crabcakes. Quite small even for an appetizer; not really enough for sharing. Pretty bland little to no crab flavor, but the corn was at least detectable. The aioli sauce was astoundingly bland completely tasteless actually. My entree was wild grilled salmon, served with asparagus, roasted peppers, and Israeli cous cous. Ok I guess; nothing special, and the salmon portion was too small for the ridiculously excessive price. And served with the same tasteless aeoli as the appetizer. The wife ordered a rib eye steak, served with crispy fried onions and scalloped potatoes. It was all pretty decent actually. It was a thinner cut that I prefer, but the portion was generous, cooked as ordered, with a nicely charred exterior, and will probably be enough for a second meal from the leftovers. Service was fine; our waitress 's heavy accent and quiet voice were only minor issues. From what I 've written about so far the food and the service, it probably merits 3 stars. But I 've downgraded it to 2 for the following reasons: 1. The prices were ridiculously high, then they used tricks to adjust them. Meaning that the entrees were two for one: pay for the higher priced item and the other is free. That compensates for the overpriced entrees but doesn 't help with the overpriced tiny appetizer or the $13 cocktails (which were decent though). 2. On the bill, which correctly showed the total amount taking into account the two for one deal, the waitress had also handwritten the original amount without the two for one deal and the suggested 20% tip amount! Most inappropriate the wife used the term aggressive. Hey, we paid what we paid. How the restaurant chooses to classify the items is their concern not ours. It 's not like we came in with a coupon or something, where it is standard to tip on the pre discount amount. The $36 entree price is a fiction; it was really $18 because of the two for one deal. Not to mention that 20% is too high except for exceptional service and that 's for us to decide; not the waitress! 3. There was not one thing on the dessert menu that appealed to me in the slightest. So we left, and went over to Henry 's for a couple glasses of wine and an excellent brownie sundae. Maybe we should have eaten our entire meal there."

For a decent looking restaurant (and recommended by a local), the service was lacking. I ordered the lobster turnover, which was to die for! But my husband's steak was burnt...black...so I left this place with some mixed feelings...hence the rating. I do suggest, if you're going to try this place, that you go with a seafood dish though (no offense to my hubby)!

I would definitely return to The Grill on Main. I've been going to the Vineyard for over 25 years and this was my first time at this restaurant. I'm kicking myself that it was my first time. The food was delicious, the waitstaff very friendly and attentive. The best thing buy one entree, get one free!!!!!!! Where on MV can you get that????? Highly suggest a stop here! Dress is casual. Looks like the bar would be a nice one, too. Friendly bartender the night we were there.

The Grill on Main has a great location. They light up the patio in the evening and it's great for people/car watching. The staff is courteous. I was the first and only customer tonight....so I felt the service was absolutely great! I had the shrimp scampi, the Atlantic crab corn cakes, and a blood orange margarita. Everything was decent. I'm not too full yet very satisfied. I found this place by driving by and then I researched yelp reviews afterwards. It had a four....but three is the better paced rate.

During our visit to Martha's Vineyard from California to see family, we had a wonderful evening at this restaurant with 3 generations celebrating multiple birthdays on the patio. Despite the restaurant being busy, our waitress was attentive and charming, even offering to take a family photo for us. I ordered the grilled swordfish, which was just as delicious as anything you would find in the foodie San Francisco area where we come from. The scallops and pork dishes were also a hit. Overall, we had a very memorable evening. View menu

The location of the restaurant is great, but unfortunately it is not utilized well. It's disappointing to see why they have a buy one get one free deal. The service was average and the food was not up to par. Even with the discount, I still ended up paying $18 for a small piece of salmon covered in jarred tartar sauce (not a good combination) and a serving of Betty Crocker's potatoes au gratin. The dinner rolls took a long time to arrive because they were being heated from frozen in the oven. The overall experience felt similar to eating at a Holiday Inn restaurant.

Ok Yelp, you got me. How does this place have such a good rating? The food is barely edible!! The staff, on the other hand, is terrific but that doesn't get you a 4 or 5 star rating. We had: Caesar Salad basic Beet Salad average Shrimp Scampi Over Linguine no taste at all. When I put salt and pepper on it, it tasted like salt and pepper. Where is the garlic? Where is the shrimp flavor? Not in this dish. Burger my daughter wouldn't eat it. Pasta with Butter my other daughter liked it. As I said before, the staff is wonderful. Super nice and accommodating. The food, sub par.

I had high expectations for the Grill on Main. So high, in fact, that we braved the snow to get there. I ordered the rib eye special with scalloped potatoes, while my boyfriend had the strip steak with shallots. When our dinners arrived, we were disappointed to find that both steaks were charred on the outside and overcooked on the inside. The vegetables lacked flavor and seemed like they were frozen, and the scalloped potatoes were a mushy, cheesy mess. Luckily, we had taken advantage of the 2 for 1 special, as neither of our meals were worth the $34 and $38 price tags. Although I gave it a chance, we won't be returning. On a positive note, our waitress was pleasant. View menu

What wasn't to love? Our waitress Monica was so sweet and patient. She didn't rush us and answered all of our questions. We made an early reservation for 5:30 and were greeted with prompt service and a smile. The atmosphere here is relaxing and excellent for a date night. Their 2 for 1 special meant we got two entrees for the price of one! Upon looking at their menu, they had a fresh salmon special and a 3 course meal for a fixed price of $38. Still not a bad deal for the choices! We will definitely be coming back during our next trip! Food was excellent and presentation was great. I had the chicken with three mustard cream sauce and my boyfriend had the shrimp Alfredo. Both were delicious a...

I visited the restaurant with my husband for the second time and we were very pleased with the food, the service and the atmosphere. For starters and what is nice about this restaurant is that they have a private parking lot that is shared with the hotel so there is always parking. We did not have a reservation but were immediately seated. Our waitress was Desi who was friendly and efficient. She provided us with a description of the specials and then took our drink orders. We each ordered a glass of wine and when our wines came we placed our dinner orders. We tried the crab corn cake appetizer for starters. The app consisted of two silver dollar sized cakes with a lemon wedge and roasted ga...
