"When we arrived, we were uncertain whether we needed to wait to be seated or if we could just choose a table since there was no one at the door, unlike my last visit. Ultimately, we decided to seat ourselves as no staff was present. I wanted to give the restaurant another chance after my previous experience with undercooked chicken, so I made sure to steer clear of that dish this time. Fortunately, the food was much better! However, we did have to wait quite a long time—1 hour and 20 minutes—before our meals were served. I typically enjoy their food once a year, usually around this time, and their nostalgic music adds to the atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and overall, I would definitely return. I really love their dressing!"

I just have to say Vivian's never fails. You never leave hungry. Portions are huge and the price is fair. I LOVE Southern cooking, and I was so happy when I found there was a place here in Cedar Rapids that does it right. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Loved eating here for the first time!! The catfish and fried chicken were fantastic!! We had the sides of mashed potatoes, red beans and rice, dressing and rice with gravy all were so delicious!! We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! My wife and I were in Iowa with our one-year-old son, and we really enjoyed our time there. I ordered the meatloaf, mac and cheese, and rice with gravy, while my wife had the catfish along with the same sides. She loved her meal, and I thought mine was pretty good. The meatloaf was tasty, though it was a bit sweeter than I prefer; I like my meatloaf more savory. On a positive note, the cornbread was fantastic! I would definitely return if I visit Iowa again!
