"We sat at the bar where we could see the entire restaurant. Great ambiance. Bartender Cecile was very nice and made a perfect Martini. Lemon Greek soup was hot, creamy and delicious, great way to start the meal. Stuffed grape leafs were good; the bechamel that was in them was not lemony enough, good that they served a wedge of lemon. It might have been nice to add some crumbled feta cheese. For an additional $3 we requested grilled pita bread which added to the dish. We will go gain."

"Had a Wedding Rehearsal Dinner of 25 (with 4 toddlers) and they placed us in their private back room near the bar. It was perfect for the kids to not bother other diners (they can be loud). They gave us 2 servers and did a terrific job providing us with drinks and correct food orders. We ordered off the menu and the meals came out all at once. No errors were detected and the food was delicious. Of course the steaks were delicious and I had the largest eggplant Parmesan serving in my life. It was so large the spaghetti has to be served on its own plate. The portions were so plentiful I had never seen so many to go boxes utilized. Then there were the desserts. Excellent. "Fast seating, comfortable cabins. Big drink card. The food was not one of the best if not the best seafood I ever had when considering the portion sizes, the diving sauce selection, the crumbness of the fried dough. The presentation of the steamed/broiled food in the paper containers leaves something to be desired, but I would definitely see everything in everything in the future. It just happened in this place because BG was closed for the season. Well, what was ordered: 1. fried Calamari it didn't need the sauce at all. Soft, not rubbery, tasteful and well cooked. 2. Sweet potato fries huge portion. large texture 3. Coconut shrimps talk about Jumbo shrimps! the Mango Chutney sauce that came with him was the cherry up. I would have a second help for the road 4. Broken fish with rice pilaf my order came wrong, but the manager was quick to correct 5. Shrimp scampi with garlic bread, rice pilaf and Koleslaw It is great that they have a curly menu as well as the fried menu. Good variety and options."

"We started with a shared bowl of fra diavolo mussels, which had the perfect level of spiciness. The birthday boy ordered the surf and turf with the filet mignon cooked rare, and it was expertly prepared! I had the crispy glazed short ribs with a spicy cucumber salad, which was excellent. One daughter enjoyed chicken tacos that were tasty, while the other daughter had a delicious bacon-wrapped meatloaf served with mashed potatoes that were also very good. Our second daughter's friend raved about the French dip sandwich, claiming it was the best he had ever had. To our surprise, the restaurant treated us to a chocolate cake to round off the meal! We all agreed that the dinner was wonderful, and we wouldn't hesitate to return."

"Great little restaurant within walking distance of the most popular art restaurants in Philly. Menu is about 10 pages long with almost anything you can imagine, including a quirky hand-written specials menu that reminds you of something your grandma would prepare. Food is good and the portions are generous. Some of the entrees come with a complimentary dessert. Bread baskets start the meal. A pretty good selection of vegetarian options and the very professional and kind staff are willing to make menu items vegan if you need that. (They seem to understand what vegan means, which is often not the case Only critique is that we were looking forward to their hummus being outstanding, and it was mostly flavorless."

"There was an Extremely Rude and Disrespectful Front of the House Manager named Chris!My family and I ordered our food, and when my meal came back stuffed shrimp with crab meat it was not hot! I immediately called the waitress and explained to her the food was not hot, and I wanted my meal hot. After 23 minutes or so my food still did not come out, so I asked the waitress to please get the manager. When the female manager walked up to the table she immediately starting talking and never gave me a chance to say anything! She said , We are so busy right now She stated that the plate was hot and she put her finger in the food I told her the plate may have been hot, but the food was not hot! She kept on talking and never gave me a chance to explain that I wanted hot food. Every time I began to speak, Chris would cut me off ! I explained to Chris that if the food is not picked up on time, it gets cold after sitting there and walking through the restaurant. The manager was disrespectful and not accommodating! By this time my family had already finished their meal and I told the manager I was not able to eat with my family. She loudly said, So what do you want me to do cancel the order I said yes. On the way out we asked the front desk person for the name of the owner and tried to explain to her how rude and disrespectful the manager had been. We have been coming to this restaurant for over 4 years and had never been treated this way! While we were talking to the front desk person, Chris butts in and starting interfering in our conversation. We asked for the owner's name and she told us it was Jerry Sullivan. She remained yelling at us and told us to leave and that this is not Burger King you cannot have it your way! It was so rude and disrespectful until another customer started video taping this incident! We have this incident on tape and the Front House manager rudely talking about Burger King! I am extremely dissatisfied with the way Chris the manager treated me and my family! We will never return here again, because of the humiliating experience we had with the front house manager named Chris! She was cruel, rude and inconsiderate! I sent for the manager to speak to her and she did not allow me to speak, but came straight to the table and starting talking. I sent for her, she should have at least given me the opportunity to express myself with my concerns. It was a horrible experience and I was never able to eat with my family! They had finished their meal and my meal still had not come out! Chris was very insulting to me and my family! Chris does not need to be a manager if she does not have any customer service skills!Sunday February 20, 2022 around 6:30 p.m."

"I ordered the crab cake sandwich without tomatoes and found that the onion was overwhelming in flavor. The crab cake itself was a good size but lacked taste, even with the sauce. After adding some seasoning, the sandwich became more enjoyable. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the bread was soft and fresh. If the crab cake had a bit more seasoning, it would be even better. I may give this restaurant another try in the future to see if they have improved. Since moving to North Carolina from Baltimore, I have been on the search for a good crab cake without success. While I can make great crab cakes at home, sometimes I don't feel like cooking and would like to find a go-to spot for delicious crab cakes."

"Decent food… very good service… I’ve eaten here a few times over the years and it’s always pretty good. There are some menu items that are just ok, but others like the pickles, the chicken and asparagus, lasagna, lobster roll and all the club sandwiches are tasty. I’d consider the food 3 stars. What puts them into 4 stars for me is the service… from the hostess, bartenders and waiter… the waiter we had tonight took the food and drink orders for our party of 8 people and though he didn’t write any of it down, he remembered everything… the hostess tonight was very nice and accommodating even though we didn’t call ahead and showed up with 8 people at 9:30… she didn’t give me an attitude and was very nice telling us to wait a few minutes and she would get something ready for us…"

"We always enjoy going to Breakwater! This restaurant is always consistent with its food, cocktails and service. The wife and I have found that one of the biggest problems with waterfront dining in Connecticut and New England for that matter is lack ofconsistency in good/great food and service. We never worry about that when we come to Breakwater! The only other place inNew England that I would mention is Coastguard House in RI. That to me and I hope to Breakwater is quite a compliment! We willbe back again and again this season and for years to come!"

"The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and a welcoming family atmosphere. Our waitress, Jennifer, was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I tried several items from the specials menu, including asiago fries, a strawberry and feta cheese salad, and shrimp and spinach cannelloni—all of which were delicious, and I had no complaints about the food. The complimentary bread was also delightful, appearing to be fresh out of the oven when it arrived at our table. Additionally, it seems they have a separate room in the back that they open for busy times and private parties, complete with a nice mural on the wall."

"Service was the worst we experienced as an entire company. Very unfortunate when we came to spend , and we regularly have 20-30 associates fly in for weeks at a time. Crab was delicious, but the atmosphere was heavily impac6ed by the pure distane our server displayed towards our entire group. As a frequent traveler and patron of restaurants all over the country, I sure hope this issue is addressed before the company as a whole is impacted negatively. Oyster on the half shell had bits and pieces of shell throughout several of them."
