"We ordered cocktails, but they took 15 to 20 minutes to arrive, and the waiter asked us to pick our drinks off his tray, which felt quite tacky. If he couldn't serve the drinks properly, he should have made an extra trip. To make matters worse, the cocktails were disappointing—watered down and lacking flavor. At $28 each, we decided to ask the waiter if we could switch to wine instead. For food, we ordered the fried goat cheese balls and heirloom tomato salad. Both were mediocre at best—nothing special that I couldn’t have prepared at home, certainly not what I’d expect at this price point. Our server, an older gentleman, seemed disinterested in providing quality service for an establishment with such potential. He was inattentive; it took him about 20 minutes to come by and ask for the check, and when he finally did, he slammed it down on our table, clearly sensing our frustration. He was also not very friendly. Overall, I left the restaurant feeling hungry, frustrated, and disappointed. I won’t be coming back. It’s a beautiful space, but sadly, it’s wasted on poor cocktails, mediocre food, and service that leaves much to be desired."

Food was delicious. Especially enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and gnocchi. The building is also quite large and there are a number of rooms that seem great for private events.

Tasty food and drinks! Going at prime dinner time will have you waiting awhile for food and drinks but it was worth it. Dates appetizer and lamb meatballs were the best. Talented Me Riply was favorite drink.

This place is an easy 5 5. Delicious food and solid cocktails. Excellent service. Great atmosphere not overly crowded. Reasonable prices. The scallops and the brussel sprouts particularly stood out. Cant wait to go back! View menu

My date and I loved this place! Such a romantic setting. The fireplace was a wonderful touch. Every dish we tried was excellent. Would recommend to anyone looking for an unique place to bring someone special in their life.

Packed! But cannot understand why. So loud that we can't converse...texting each other and at a table of three! Food arrived before cocktails. And food was mediocre. We left most of it behind uneaten. Ha! The drinks arrived at the same time we were asking for our check. Server was very nice. Oh well.

Terrific restaurant where I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ever had, but I return for the goat cheese absolutely delicious. An NYC restaurant has to stand out for me to return to it (there are so many to try). I’ve been to Alta 3 times (it is close to where I used to stay), One suggestion call to make sure it is open particularly if you want to eat earlier in the evening. Posted hours haven’t always been accurate. I was bummed during my last NYC that it was no longer open on Sunday evenings. I understand why, but it was disappointing, View menu

What a disappointment! I dined at this restaurant five years ago and had an amazing experience, so I was excited to return for a cozy dinner. However, the quality of the food was very poor. The octopus we ordered was so tough that we couldn't even cut through it with a knife. When we asked the server if it could be remade, he informed us that this is how they prepare it and that the kitchen couldn't change it. So if you enjoy chewy, rubbery octopus, this place is for you! The prices are far too high for the quality of the food served. My advice: don’t waste your evening here; it’s simply not worth it.

For the price range in New York, I recommend looking for another restaurant. There are countless options with better ambiance, food, and service, especially at this price point. The food was decent but not impressive enough for my friend and me to consider returning. While the service wasn't terrible, it certainly lacked enthusiasm. Our waiter was polite but didn't make any effort to exceed expectations. There was an especially awkward moment when she attempted to clear our plates even though we hadn't finished eating. The most uncomfortable part of the evening came when my friend and I asked the hostess for a photo by the bar on our way out, and she outright refused. It’s surprising because...

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
