"Unfortunately, the ambiance was rather underwhelming, with orange-painted walls and ceiling vents that could use a good cleaning. For appetizers, we ordered the brassica beats and lasooni kebab. The cauliflower bezule were greasy little bites with an overly crispy coating, and the accompanying sauce was also quite heavy, which detracted from the dish. The chicken kebab teetered dangerously close to being undercooked, with some pieces crossing that line. Next, we tried the main courses: ghee roasted mutton and apricot kofta. The kofta was submerged in a cream-heavy curry, and to be honest, I struggled to detect any apricot flavor in the kebab—it just seemed slightly firmer compared to typical paneer or potato koftas. The mutton gravy was mild, and overall, both the appetizers and curries felt like they were played too safe, merely checking boxes rather than attempting any memorable or experimental dishes. While I couldn't point out anything particularly wrong with them, nothing truly captivated me either. For dessert, we had toffee pudding and tapioca kheer. The toffee pudding was warm and just the right level of sweetness—especially if you skipped the brown sugar syrup. I enjoyed that. However, the tapioca pudding was quite sweet and overwhelmed by an excess of saffron. If you're looking for a decent Indian meal in a relatively nice setting, this restaurant might be a good fit. However, my expectations were higher, and unfortunately, they were not met."

Love it! Interesting food options especially with appetizers. We tried maggi and aloo spiral chat

Came back here again recently, the service has always been great and the food is consistent and delicious. Drinks are good too and worth a shot especially if you want to give cocktails with some spice to it which they do a great job of. We ordered the Mr Potato spiral chaat (trick to eating is to eat it in chunks of 4 and slide them down), Chipotle Paneer Tikka, Basil and Thyme Naan and a Garlic Naan. Breads were not the strong suit to be fair but their curries are great! View menu

I'm conflicted; I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant since it's the only Indian place close to my home. The food had great flavors and an inventive menu. However, there's a significant downside—given that it's a high-end restaurant, I wouldn't expect the food to be so greasy. There was an excess of oil floating in all the curries, which is disappointing for a $26 small bowl. I found myself having to scoop out the oil before I could even dig in. Additionally, the naan portions are quite small, so you’ll need to order more than you typically would.

Summary: The food was good, but the service left much to be desired, and the ambiance was quite noisy. Given the overall experience, it felt overpriced. The seasonal appetizers, particularly the prawns, were excellent. However, the pepper chicken came with whole and partially crushed peppers that weren't very appealing. The apricot kofta for the entree was enjoyable, although the apricot flavor was not distinct; the curry was tasty, and the biryani was decent. Dessert was also good. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. From check-in to taking orders, the team was slow and often out of sync, which impacted the experience. When I asked for a larger plate for my biryani, I was told they didn...

The Yellow dal was reminiscent of the way we make it at home, lacking additional spices, which made it taste somewhat bland. I was actually in the mood for a milder dal that day and enjoyed it, but I'm uncertain if I would feel the same on another occasion. Both the Garlic Naan and Roti were fluffy and flavorful; however, I prefer them on the thinner side, which made it less enjoyable for me. The best Garlic Naan I’ve had remains at Bhimavaram Ruhulu. Overall, we enjoyed the food and plan to return. Our minor criticisms stem mainly from the fact that we spent close to $60 for two people and two dishes, which led us to expect a bit more. The staff was very welcoming and polite, and the ambie... View menu

I had a disappointing experience with the manager at this restaurant. You can never truly gauge the quality of a restaurant until you're faced with an issue. I placed an order for $200 worth of food and picked it up, only to discover at home that one of the curries was missing. The manager insisted that the kitchen confirmed they had sent out the complete order, implying that I was lying. He then offered to make another curry if I could come back to pick it up. I explained that we were about to sit down for dinner, and returning was not an option for me. He repeated that the kitchen had verified the order was correct, which led me to lose my patience. I told him his tone was lacking any sens...

Aurum, which means gold in Latin, strives to set the gold standard in food, service, and atmosphere. We ordered eggplant curry along with yellow dal, roti, and garlic naan. The experience was somewhat hit or miss. The presentation and flavor of the eggplant curry were fantastic, although the whole eggplant seemed slightly undercooked. This minor flaw detracted from an otherwise excellent dish. The yellow dal tasted just like the way we make it at home, lacking extra spices and coming across as a bit bland. I was in the mood for a mild dal and enjoyed it that day, but I'm uncertain if it would be as enjoyable on another occasion. Both the garlic naan and roti were fluffy and tasty. Personally...

"Date Night ASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition This was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los Altos With high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experience The menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first opened I loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellent For entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menu As a fungi fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and Peninsula The only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risotto ASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings) Smoked and Stoned $16 Anchovy Bread $16 Dungeness Crab Toast $36 Special Striped Bass over Risotto ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34 ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA) Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted."

"The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice. Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt."
