"Visited twice from California and was blown away by both the food, hospitality and management. I rarely see all three of those in play at restaurants these days, I have serviced the hospitality industry for years and this place is what we all should think of if we even think we want to own a place and service the public. Mike made us feel like family, helped us while we waited (yes they will have a wait because it is so good) and connected with each guest at some point. You can drink coffee while you wait but if you love hot cocoa....YOU GOTTA try it! the homemade whipped cream with chocolate shavings is unreal. I have celiac disease and go Gluten free, this place had anything I could have been craving GF pancakes that actually taste like pancakes, waffles, toast and more. If your debating between Ball square and anything else you see on that street..save the brain space and stay in line. Be sure and prep for the weekend wait, and don't go if your starving as on weekends you will need to wait about 30-40 min. Its totally worth it. My only suggestion to Mike is expand that place! and serve more guests!"

My favorite spot to enjoy with family and friends. The best food in town and excellent service! I've been coming here for a couple of years and have never had a single complaint.

Our favorite neighborhood spot! If you live nearby, skip the long lines of college students on the weekends and opt for takeout! I really appreciate that they offer beef and pork alternatives for sausage and bacon, in addition to their amazing preparation of all the dishes!

This restaurant is fun and welcoming, consistently serving delicious food. The portions are generous and packed with flavor. The owner is always present, ensuring that his customers are well taken care of. I've never had a negative experience here—it's my favorite place for breakfast!

The food at this restaurant is amazing. The apple cinnamon French toast is life-changing. While the service could use some improvement, it's not bad enough to keep me from returning. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for the server to greet us, and then another 5 to 7 minutes for our juice to arrive at the table. View menu

We got there and the line was long. However, the wait was not bad at all. The eggs benefits were made to perfection. Runny yolk, excellent hollandaise sauce. I replaced the Canadian bacon with regular bacon and loved it!!! The French toasts were not overly sweet and the fruit was fresh. I will be coming back here!

I 'm from DC and was in town visiting my daughter. We had Sunday brunch there. It was FANTASTIC!!! I am a Maitre d ' for a 5 star restaurant group. From the moment we were greeted, our waiter, the food and ambiance was SPECTACULAR!!! If you are in the Boston area, treat yourself and make a visit. You will not regret it.

Today, my husband and I made our second visit to Ball Square Cafe, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was incredibly good, and the portions were massive! Our waiter, Todd, provided excellent service. We even got a chance to meet the owner, Mike, who warmly greeted guests like they were old friends. It’s definitely worth the drive from Peabody! Our go-to breakfast spot. Very large servings and reasonable prices. Wait staff are professional and fast. And yes, it's nice to not have to get your own coffee. Omelets here are huge, you won't be sorry. But the corn beef hash is my favorite. I tried the french toast for the first time and wow is it decadent. Will be hard to go anywhere else, honestly.

I absolutely love this place! I've been there four times with my boyfriend, and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. The breakfast menu is extensive, featuring so many variations of Eggs Benedict! They offer bottomless coffee and have a nice self-serve coffee station. Mike, the owner, genuinely cares about his customers, and the place is spotless. The staff is wonderful as well. This morning, there was a guy running the place who wore glasses, and he was truly fantastic. Honestly, I usually don’t enjoy writing reviews, but I couldn't resist sharing my experience this time!

"No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for $14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys . It’s all top quality. The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us! . The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways. The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am."
