"What a great discovery! We had walked by this place several times without thinking to stop until today. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn’t too crowded. I loved the spacious feel of the restaurant, thanks to its large windows. They had a nice selection of appetizers and main courses, but we were so hungry that we skipped right to the mains. Our server was attentive and friendly, and she recommended the Nashville-style chicken sandwich, while my boyfriend opted for the fish tacos. The food arrived incredibly quickly! She was spot on about the chicken sandwich; the brioche bun was soft and buttery, the chicken was well seasoned, and the hot sauce had just the right amount of kick without being overwhelming. My boyfriend enjoyed the fish tacos so much that we’re already looking forward to trying the fish and chips next. The onion rings were slightly greasy and a bit bland, but the batter was perfect, so it didn’t bother me too much. The side of fries we ordered was massive and thinly cut, which is my favorite style. I can’t wait to come back for more food and enjoy some beers next time!"

The restaurant had live music and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the drinks were great. They were also able to accommodate us before the kitchen closed around 8. What more could you ask for?

Occidental is a charming little town featuring a fantastic tavern where you can enjoy a delicious burger and a beer in a historic house that's been beautifully transformed into a pub. Personally, I'm not a fan of crowded spaces, and it is quite a cozy venue, but it’s the only bar I know of in the area that offers live music almost every night. Price range per person: $30–50. Overall, I rate the food as 4 out of 5.

As for the onion rings, they were incredibly crispy! The light and airy breading was perfect. One suggestion for improvement is to place them on parchment paper or a towel next time to absorb the excess oil, as they could get a bit soggy as they cool. My boyfriend and mom both enjoyed their burgers, finishing every bite and proclaiming them great! The atmosphere was quaint and had a small-town charm, making it an ideal spot to grab a bite to eat while leisurely observing life. It's a wonderful place to relax, head down to the Russian River, and soak in the beauty of the California countryside.
