"This place is primarily known for its fried crispy calamari which is unique in that it stays crispy literally for days. It 's tasty, crunchy and quite addictive. My in-laws would buy a half tray and bring it on a flight to Asia and it would still be crispy after a 14 hour flight. I buy a small box for $26 and we eat it over 4-5 days and it stays crispy the entire time. Regarding the service, if you 've ever watched Seinfeld with the episode featuring the Soup Nazi , my wife and I jokingly refer to the Chef P 's lady as the Squid Nazi . Yes, she 's gruff. We just accept it knowing she 's like that to everyone and it 's not you specifically. Just expect that she 's like that and it isn 't a big deal because I haven 't found any place else that can make calamari like they do. The place is CASH ONLY so bring your greenbacks. Finally, make sure you seal up your calamari tightly in a zip lock or plastic bag or your car or luggage will smell like fried calamari. Service: Takeaway Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3"

I attempted to call this restaurant to place an order, but I was met with a very rude employee on the phone.

I've been coming here with my family for years. This place is CASH ONLY. Their salt and pepper calamari is so crunchy. It's addicting. We tried the salt and pork ribs are pretty good too. Prices have definitely gone up. I think the salt and pepper calamari was about $26 but the container is petty full. The place itself is small. You literally have enough space to just look at the menu and come back to pick up your order. The lady seems mean but she doesn't play. "I always go to this store as we live closeby. I always love to bring my kids in this store, and have them order their food. Yesterday, I went with my 3 yr old son (his bday) coz he wants a cake pop. I let him call the barista so she knows we're ready to order. My son said excuse me like 5 times, said hello like 3 times to get her attention coz she's talking with her coworker. She finally came up to us, my son ordered cakepops, I ordered 2 java chips and 1 mocha frappe. The baristas before were soooo nice, very friendly, welcoming but yesterday was the opposite. Btw, always sip a bit of your drinks before you leave the store coz yesterday I guess the barista who made the mocha frappe forgot to put in sugar syrup. I just found it today as my husband didn't drink his mocha frappe yesterday. Coz what if you just stopped by to get some drinks and you already left then found out something is wrong with your order. And also, they do not offer Java Chip anymore, so you gotta pay additional for the chips. The barista didn't even inform me about it, found out today when I checked the receipt online. I called in to let them know about my concerns, they offered to remake the mocha frappe. The barista who made our drinks was the one who took our order. Maybe she had a bad day. But then, I just wish the baristas will be more friendly and welcoming and inform the customer if a menu is no longer available so we have the option to change our order. "First time to Koi Palace in Milpitas, though had dined at their location in Daly City decades ago. Very disappointing.. It's on a Monday around noon, and the place was pretty filled up. The service was lousy, starting from the receptionist who practically saw us but totally ignored us, even after my husband kindly waving his hand to him in order to catch his attention. After seated, though some servers had been going back forth by our table but none would look up, stop and talked to us. Of course we had to wait for a while before being served, minimally. The 18% mandatory tip charge to the customers was totally undeserved due to the lack of acceptable, good service to their customers. We have been to a few similar restaurants (in terms of foods class) in the Peninsula area where mandatory 18% tip charge are imposed but they do provide very good service consistently to their customers. We primarily came to eat at this restaurant for their well-known dim sum and its variety. Foods served were disappointing, unfortunately, considering their high-priced tags. Siu Mai 燒賣 were not fresh; skins were tough and the meat hard to chew. Shrimp dumblings or Ha Gow 蝦餃 were okay. Tofu rolls 鮮竹卷 were acceptable. The Budda's Delight vegetarian noodles 羅漢齋麵 was made up of a large portion of noodles but only few vegetable ingredients, not worth the $24. Adding to the noise level of the place due to crowded tables (very close to each other) when it's busy, it's definitely not a pleasant dining experience at all.. Do not plan to return.."
