"I was looking for a restaurant in Clarksville that was conveniently located between my house and my father's for a birthday dinner. After reading reviews, I decided on Dae Bok. Herman, who runs the place, and his mother, a native Korean, handle the cooking. He mentioned that his mother uses jackfruit as a meat alternative for vegan dishes, or simply omits meat for those options—just ask about which dishes can be adapted. I ordered the Bulgogi with jackfruit, while my father chose the Chicken Bulgogi. He ended up trying and enjoying the jackfruit, too! We also ordered Yamandu, which are fried dumplings. Each meal comes with kimchi that doesn't use fish ingredients and a bean spice salad. We had plenty of food, enough to take home a second meal. Herman was very friendly and informative. While we were there, we noticed a few other customers and some takeout orders being prepared. The restaurant may not be easily noticeable from the road, but it’s definitely a hidden gem. There are plenty of options for both vegan preferences and for those with omnivore tastes."

I absolutely loved this charming little restaurant! I was in the city visiting family and was so thankful to discover this place. The owner was incredibly helpful in guiding me toward some excellent vegan dishes, and they were fantastic!

super large portions and the most beautiful family leads this small workshop. to the owner and her mother, the chef, the first time I left. the owner is plant-based and has many vegan friends. the cook is Korean and she understands English well. items can be made vegan and it is so delicious. I always stop looking for korean. the jackfruit and knödel are highly recommended. View menu

Delicious, authentic Korean food. As a Korean-American, this place is a gem to eat real homecooked meals. I visit Clarksville every few months to see my elderly aunt, and always order takeout for our dinner during my stay. The portions are very generous, banchan (side dishes) are freshly made, and prices are great. Its location may seem hard to find, but don?t let that deter you-the food is excellent and high quality. Strongly recommend!

You can ask for most of the menu items to be veganized no problem, which is great! Hard to find in some korean restaurants. I met the owner once and she told me she is plant based, so you can feel confident that they understand what vegan means whenordering. The food is always good, and served in large portions. Well priced and always a pleasant experience! There can be abit of a language barrier with the chef but she's always friendly and understands your order and your needs. I stop here everytime I'm in town again

Amazing stop for vegans and the food is beyond delicious!! Dae Bak has authentic Korean food cooked by a Korean grandmother. Menu includes some of the most popular Korean items, many of which can be veganized. Jackfruit and tofu are always available and more elaborate substitutes can be made with advance notice. Vegan offerings include jackfruit bulgogi (mild or spicy), kimchijeon, kimchi jigae, japchae, jackfruit Korean fried chicken, soybean paste stew, tofu stew, and kimbap. Many of the banchan (side dish) offerings are also vegan and the kimchi is made in-house and always vegan! Cabbage and cucumber kimchis are available to purchase in bulk. View menu

This place, the food is absolutely amazing. The lady that runs it pretty much does everything and she is superwoman. Everything that we ate there was top notch. I would highly recommend it. Now that atmosphere, it is a little hole in the wall, so be prepared for that, it's nothing fancy and that's okay because the food is worth it. Keep That in mind when you're visiting them. Like I said, I can't say enough good things about the woman who owns it and her food. She 100% knows what she's doing. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes: Kimchi Radish Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes

Edit: So I have increased my rating to max stars. I have come back several times since first review and this restaurant has not disappointed. The food is so flavorful. Broth in stews is awesome. Spices in meat dishes are superb. Every dish is distinct inits flavor. Heck i had the chicken wings and they were so delicious. If you are looking for something made like fast food thisis not it. Food is made to order so larger parties might have to wait a little longer. They also serve side dishes of assortedkimchi. Food is delicious Full of flavor Portions were sizable. Decor is not much of anything but the food and servicedefinitely make up for it. Plenty of parking Prices were reasonable. Dining...

"We decided to try out this spot on a Friday night randomly. I will say they do their best with providing a good atmosphere with the limited space they have. The spacing between the tables makes it a little difficult for the waitresses to get through comfortably. The menu was a little confusing at first as it's two separate pages so we thought we were looking at 2 separate menus. The food was honestly delicious which was nice because I was questioning whether or not it would be and I honestly have no complaints about the food except the lemonade was not great and my wife's water tasted weird. I feel like there could be something done with the space to give it a little more life. I would say the biggest negative of the night was the service. To be fair it seemed like only 1 of the 2 waitresses were really working for some reason. But when we asked for a 2nd menu the waitress that was working slammed down another menu on the table and walked away with no words. When we brought up the issue with her she just said she was busy , no real apology for her action just justification for why she did it and you could tell her frustration the whole night as she seemed to be frantic while serving everyone and she didn't check in much with us, we had to get her attention whenever we needed something. While waiting for our food someone came in for an online order which wasn't ready and the explanation was that the online orders weren't automatic , they get sent to an inbox to where the orders have to be put in manually and that inbox wasn't checked often so the order got put in late and this was the explanation from the other waitress who didn't seem to be doing much. I might give this place another try just because the food was actually really good but I definitely think they need work on their service."
