"The atmosphere was pleasant—offering a kind of faux elegance typical of restaurants in hotels that you wouldn’t normally pay a premium to stay at. The menu was straightforward, but everything sounded delicious. The staff was friendly and quick to make recommendations, which I always appreciate. I ultimately ordered the Chilaquiles, which came with fried corn tortillas, ancho chile tomato sauce, refried beans, cilantro, pickled onion, avocado, queso fresco, and two eggs prepared any way you like. I chose scrambled eggs, and oh my goodness, this dish was fantastic! The corn chips were thick, crispy, and not oily at all, standing up well to all the toppings. Between the flavorful beans, perfectly scrambled eggs, and the generous half avocado, these breakfast nachos were incredibly satisfying. I also ordered a side of crispy potatoes. They were good—not groundbreaking, but they met my expectations. I had the opportunity to try their giant French toast as well, which was decent. Given the size and fluffiness of the bread, it could have used some moisture. Although syrup was available, I would have appreciated more of the strawberry drizzle that came on the plate. Overall, I left feeling pleased with my experience. If you find yourself here, I’m confident you’ll enjoy it too, especially since it's just a short drive from Sea World."

The service was excellent, but I believe it wasn't necessary for both doors to be open.

Restaurant not easy to find from the Hotel parking lot. Location and ambiance very nice near Mission Bay.

A bit over priced $17 Avocado toast (smallest piece of toast ever) and $7 to add an egg. The pancakes are worth the money and it's a larger portion.

We went for Christmas brunch. Choice of 6 flavors for mimosas. Wide variety of very delicious food. Service was very good. Good musician playing oldies. Outside dining at waterside.

What a beautiful atmosphere! Our server Andrea was very helpful and her service was excellent. Even our busser Marlin was so friendly and checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Highly recommend for any occasion. The food, people and ambiance was perfect! View menu

was not great. they called me 4 times to tell me that my reservation wasn't in their schedule. it was not able to move it at a later time. when we were there, they gave up to go up when I asked to move it. outside heating worked on all tables, but ours. server was fantastic, the best part of the experience.

The service and ambiance were outstanding. We enjoyed our meal at a cozy fireplace lounge table on the deck, which, despite the cool evening, was both comfortable and inviting. The cocktails were excellent. However, the food left much to be desired. We ordered scallops that were slightly overcooked and not accompanied by any sauce or lemon, which was disappointing. The scallops were served with well-roasted and spiced asparagus, though the flavor didn't suit my palate, as well as a potato croquette that lacked seasoning entirely. How does one create a potato dish without any salt? We ordered dessert to round off the meal. Overall, it was a pleasant dinner, but given the high prices, it didn'...

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
