"Downtown Wylie is the perfect place for breakfast! We’ve lived here for 16 years and have never gotten tired of Ballard Street Cafe, if anything we simply love it more with time. It’s family owned and currently open breakfast and lunch. Both menus have many delicious options! This morning we sat at the bar for breakfast about 9a on a Sunday with no wait. My partner ordered the blue plate special, 2 eggs and fried bologna, and I had the Mexicali scramble, we shared 4 sausage links. Everything was delicious. My partner commented he was surprised by how thick the fried bologna was and that it exceeded his expectations, he also had wheat toast and hash browns and in his words, an extraordinarily large glass of orange juice. My Mexicali scramble was amazing! Easily one of my favorite breakfast meals anywhere! It is several eggs scrambled with slices of grilled onion, jalapeños, tomato, and ground sausage, covered in cheese and served with 3 toasty tortillas. The dish also came with crispy hash browns and I added white toast. The toast was buttery and they had four flavors of butter available grape, strawberry, mixed, and apple butter. My first bite and I was just like oh my gosh this is so good, despite having eaten it many times in the past. The serving staff is awesome and gets to know their regulars. The owners are compassionate and really invested in. the customer experience. Prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a yummy breakfast for the family, a morning date, or a work meeting."

"Loved the service that we got the atmosphere was nice love the .old house atmosphere. I can say my own opinion did not like my plate at all didn't like the looks of my of my husband's plate as well we ate what we could the salsa was very good, loved my coke as well as my margarita. Can say I will be back to give it another try but it will be for brunch or breakfast. And I will give another 20 dollar tip as long as I get the same service I got tonight."

"We come here every few weeks. Excellent breakfast every. single. time! Food is perfectly cooked, even with special instructions—like crispy bacon and well done omelette. The cinnamon roll pancake is something we order every time we come, and it is as miraculous as it sounds. French toast with thick Texas toast was delicious. My Denver omelette had lovely sautéed onions, peppers, and ham—there is a big difference in this, versus just tossing them in. The textures and flavors are just gorgeous. Biscuits are fluffy and light, like my Gigi used to make. Service is consistently great! Well worth a drive if you’re not a local. Note that it’s a humble diner, with checkered floor tiles and license plates on the walls, so it’s not haute cuisine in a fancy location. But southern style breakfast that you’ll crave all week is what you’ll get if you come!"

"I like to start by saying that I couldn't commit to giving this place 4 stars and that if I could I would give 3.5. To start off, this restaurant had good food I really enjoyed it but the drinks were not very good (their happy hour margaritas were entirely too sweet) and the service was very bad. When we came in we were the only table, but despite it being slow we felt like we were rushed by the server the entire time. Our server kept coming over trying to rush our food, didn't even offer the dessert menu when we were done with our entrees, and immediately gave us our check and tried to cash us out. The food was really good but that bad service put a bad taste in my mouth, that and the bad drinks. When it comes to the food, it was all delicious though. We had the Street Corn, the Chimichanga, and the Pork Tamales and it was all very good, cooked perfectly and had so much flavor the salsa was good as well. I'm trying to debate whether I'll come back or not because of knowing what I can expect, but at least know that they do have good food."
