"Last night we were in town for a concert. We stopped to eat at the Hotel Franklin. Wow, what a wonderful restaurant. I have not experienced a real neighborhood restaurant since I worked in Buffalo in the 70’s and 80’s. Restaurants like Chef’s, Pizza John’s, and the Anchor Bar were always a treats. The food was not only excellent but the waitress was very helpful, quick and courteous. The stuffed rigatoni proved to be fresh and plentiful. The gnocchi’s were in a white butter sauce with fresh herbs. Also we had seafood over linguine. All was superb. We will be making the trip to Rome frequently to enjoy this great establishment. Also try their excellent bakery with fresh Italian bread and so so many goodies. Thanks for the great food and wonderful meals!!"

Went to fish fry Friday with family. The clam chowder was awful. 1 clam, too many potatoes and carrots. Not sure if the server didn't stir the pot? Fish fry was great. The Franklin is probably one of the major staples as far as local family owned restaurants in Rome. A must have if you're visiting. They serve a delicious and humble style of Italian food that feels like home for the locals, with everything from sandwiches and salads to pasta and steaks. Even the bread is excellent, and when dining in they give you this garlic herb butter that's just fantastic. Their pastry cabinet is also stocked with an array of house made Italian pastries that are always top notch. If there were anything to complain about it's that as busy as they get, it can be crowded and noisy for a conversation, but they do have a back room for larger parties.
