"Even though this restaurant is an hour away from our home, it 's been our special occasion go to restaurant for years. We 've brought our parents here and purchased gift cards for our friends. I love the selection of creative vegan entrees, relaxed art house atmosphere, and live music. We 've always received friendly service and enjoyed our food in the past. This evening, for the first time in my life (at any restaurant), I sent back an entree. I was nearly in tears because I feel so guilty about wasting food. The replacement dish I received was even worse--what was advertised as pad thai turned out to be mushy noodles drenched in what tasted like rice vinegar, hastily topped with carrots and green beans. My husband tasted it and his face said it all. His words were borderline inedible. We were disappointed with the food, but we understand that on a busy Saturday night, mishaps with food can occur. Between us we have 30 years ' experience working in restaurants and have been confronted with many situations like this ourselves. What happened next turned our disappointment to anger: a manager came to our table with check in hand, apologized coldly, and seemed to think that comping the two meals I couldn 't eat had been a magnanimous gesture. She did offer us dessert, which I guess was a nice thought but not a substitution for dinner. I 'm giving a second star because my husband said his short ribs were very good, as was the appetizer. All said, we 're out $70 and I still haven 't had dinner. Side note: we advise purchasing bottled options if you 're a beer drinker. My husband is a professional brewer by trade and every draft beer from here has been flat and displayed off flavors. He knows what these beers are supposed to taste like, and it seems to be an issue with the draft system. Also, our entrees appeared about 5 minutes after we ordered them, which doesn 't seem like enough time for making things to order. Since writing this, it 's come to our attention that these changes are likely due to new ownership of the restaurant. The lack of hospitality combined with the lower quality food is sure to alienate their most loyal patrons, including us."
