"During a recent work trip, I secured a table at Gochi in Palo Alto without a reservation. This visit was my 4th visit to this restaurant, situated in a strip mall, that offers truly unique Japanese fusion creations. So many amazing options that it will challenge your decision-making with their innovative combinations. I opted for a combination order of ahi with uni and beef with uni, which were both outstanding and the Nasu, Tofu with ground pork in Miso appetizer was full of flavor and easily a separate meal. The only lowlight was that the restaurant can get a bit noisy due to the close proximity of other diners, but the culinary experience more than made up for it."

Love! Delicious food eg big varieties of claypot rice dishes, yummy appetizers like beef tongue, hamachi collar, black cod miso.

Incredible atmosphere, service and food. You can tell by the constant flow of people in and out that this place is doing something right!

The food was overly seasoned with garlic and lacked variety in flavors. Despite spending $147, we left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.

Great food that's reasonably priced! The clay pots are a must-try and the reasons for my frequent visits. Service is good. Be sure to make reservations in advance. View menu

The food was great but I wish our waiter wasn't so sassy. It was almost comical how sassy our waiter was at every step including their interactions with other waiters.

A great spot to celebrate things! If you didn’t order a clay pot meshi you’re missing out! Parking: Lots of space to park Kid-friendliness: They brought plastic silverware and cup for the toddler :

There are very few gluten free options available at this restaurant. The fusion food is enjoyable, especially the matcha crème brûlée. The staff are often busy and it can be difficult to get their attention. The restaurant is best suited for family-style dining. View menu

Excellent atmosphere, exceptional service, but food was average. I must have expected too much. The soboro clay pot was not very flavorful yet salty. The pork used in Tonkatsu (it's called something else) wasn't fresh (had the light smell to it), and Kanpachi Carppacio was served warm (maybe this is intentional). Nasu Curry Pizza was good but nothing special. I think it's a decent spot if you are looking for an Izakaya experience or a casual meal, but I don't recommend for a special occasion.

This restaurant offers a blend of American and Japanese cuisine, leaning more towards American style with a slightly greasy feel. Unfortunately, the seafood is lacking in freshness and the fish, scallops, and sea urchins don't have a strange smell but they also don't taste great. Even the octopus tasted spoiled and bitter. The claypot eel chazuke rice is strange but not terrible, although it doesn't compare to more traditional chazuke or claypot rice dishes. The service is good, but the environment is dark and cramped. Overall, the only standout dish was the claypot rice, the rest of the food was not worth it.

"Date Night ASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition This was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los Altos With high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experience The menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first opened I loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellent For entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menu As a fungi fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and Peninsula The only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risotto ASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings) Smoked and Stoned $16 Anchovy Bread $16 Dungeness Crab Toast $36 Special Striped Bass over Risotto ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34 ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA) Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted."

"The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice. Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt."
