"I had been wanting to try the chicken fried steak at Horseshoe Hill Cafe in Fort Worth's historic Stock yards for a while and was not disappointed when I finally got around to it. We chose the Cowboy style, which was the most basic of their multiple chicken fried steak options, and it was great. The breading on the chicken fried steak was fantastic, as was the mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The portion size was large enough for my wife and I to share. We also ordered their macaroni and cheese to share and we both thought it was just okay. The restaurant itself was cozy and had a nice cowboy cafe feel to it. The staff was very friendly and attentive."

I wish there were more options on the menu, but everything they do serve is excellent.

Ordered the Cowboy way and it was delicious. The portion sizes are really big, so you can order one and feed two people. Also had there queso, it was delicious! Service was great! Definitely will be going back here. View menu

Right hand to God, if I can die in this restaurant, please pour the severity and queso into my mouth hole and hit on a chicken fried steak, so it is my last true meal. The food here is like a gift from baby Jesus on Easter. 12/10 would recommend.

We finally made it to Horseshoe Hill, and wow, the chicken fried steaks are huge! We ordered the El Jefe, which comes with 4 different steaks, along with a house salad and delicious corn. The potato and 7-layer dip appetizers were also really good.

3/2/22 This restaurant is permanently closed!!!! We were really looking forward to eating here tonight. There is nothing, anywhere, that says it is closed. We pulled up and the place is completely deserted! Super sad but we found the Star Cafe right down the street!!! View menu

The staff is high energy and always smiling. Came in here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Cherie was extremely pleasant and gave us great menu guidance. The Cowboy Way country fried steak is good enough for two people. Grady, the owner, made sure that we were taking care of and had a great time! We strongly recommend this restaurant and hope everybody has a great time like we did.

Arrived for late dinner and sitting right away. Cool, relaxed mood with a lot of taxidermy to keep you company. Ordered the Lawsuit Dip and the short rib Tostadas. Both were so tasteful and good. The bathroom quickly came out and was warm and fussy. The Tostadas had a wonderful sauce for which I went back. At the time we went, they waited for alcohol license, so no alcohol offer, but BYOB was allowed. Manager said they'd get a license soon. But did not miss the alcohol. The food was so delicious.

"On my first visit, I tried the Southern Shrimp and Grits, which were simply amazing—stone-ground cheese grits topped with sautéed shrimp, enhanced by a flavorful mix of peppers and bacon. Chef Jeff and his team use fresh sirloin in their chili, and it’s absolutely delicious! The portions are generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. The food is exceptional, and the concept behind it is truly inspiring. I now volunteer here regularly. Chef Jeff and his wife, Julie, have a mission: "Our mission is to feed, educate, and serve our community so that they may 'taste and see that the Lord is good'” (Psalm 34:8). Customers can choose to: 1) pay what they can afford, 2) pay the standard price for a similar restaurant, or 3) pay a little extra to help those who are less fortunate. This creates a beautiful and fulfilling experience. They are open for lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. If you’re pressed for time, I recommend making a reservation and letting the hostess know. Diners are seated using a "paced method" to ensure the volunteer staff isn’t overwhelmed, but any wait is certainly worth it! Be sure to try the pour-over coffee or refreshing lemonade, and sample small plates like bruschetta or farro salad, as well as main dishes such as the apple bacon sandwich, crispy potatoes, burgers, shrimp and grits, and chili. And don’t overlook the dessert—it’s indulgent! I can’t express enough how much I adore this place!"
