"A solid place to get hibachi or sushi. When you first arrive, this restaurant can look at little iffy, once you get inside the decor is nice enough. It is a small restaurant, but some of their tables are in rooms that appear semi private, and a definite Japanese aesthetic to them. We went for lunch on a Saturday, it was not busy and there appeared to only be two people working. The service was not slow, but we did have to specifically ask for a couple of things I would have thought to be automatic (soy sauce dish to hold soy sauce for the sushi, the sauces that normally get served with your hibachi). Due to not actually getting hibachi from the grill but rather from the kitchen, you could taste the propane used on the wok in the dish. The sushi was fresh and tasty, no issues there, though there did seem to be a love of spicy mayo even when the description didn't say it would be there, so if that's not for you, you'd have up likely ask for no spicy. The only other detriment was that the hibachi came with clear soup, not miso, and that tasted like some beef broth with a few slices of mushroom floating in it. Bottom line: while not a five- star restaurant, you'll be able to get good food at a decent price."

Busy spot! Food is good, drinks are ok, they need more variety here. Good location, your next to everything!

Not for an epicurean. Worst Japanese food I've ever had. Hands down. Miso soup is a disrespect to Japanese culture.

What a great surprise. The decore was very nice and the service was great. Very attentive and things came out quickly, a little too fast but very attentive. However, the Jewel was the food. The sushi was exceptional. My friend can't stop raving about the Godzilla roll. View menu

This sushi is the worst I have ever. Ordered the Ichiban roll, spicy tuna and one other. The spicy tuna was like grey sawdust. I think saw dust might taste better? The shrimp in one of the rolls was black from being in the fryer to long, I'm going to assume. Biggest waste of money and time. Never order the sushi here.

The service could use some improvement, as the orders were brought to a communal area and called out, making it necessary to claim your own plate, which was somewhat off-putting. The ambiance is typical of a Japanese steakhouse—somewhat dark, but it does seem clean. The food was decent overall, but the sushi was fantastic! I will definitely be coming back for more sushi.

Came in on a weekday and it was fairly busy. At first glance, tbh,, I almost left after being seated. I had the feeling service would be slow. However, once the waitress came, she was pleasant and did mention they were busy. Despite being busy, dishes came out fairly fast. I had the ocean roll that was the special for the night. It hard calamari in it. All rolls are prepared superbly! The gyoza was delicious as well. My hubby loved his hibachi meal of steak. The steak melted in your mouth. I would definitely return here! The only reasons I didn't give this place a full five stars—I'd rate it around four and a half—are that the crab Rangoons had very little filling, and the Mai Tais had a peculiar taste. Additionally, the sushi rolls were served one by one on separate plates, which meant we constantly had to rearrange them to make space. I wouldn’t mind waiting a few extra minutes for all the rolls to come out at once. Overall, this place offers some of the best rolls I've had in a less-traveled area, and I've dined all over the country and in the Caribbean!

The Spicy Santa is undoubtedly my favorite sushi roll. While the hibachi meals could use some improvement, they are still the best in the area. The rice wasn’t great, but the steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere doesn’t feel very clean, but since there are few good Japanese restaurants around, I still consider Kouzoku a win and plan to return. It appears to be family-run, so the waitstaff are young and may lack some of the customer service skills typically expected in a restaurant. However, I appreciate that I’m supporting a small business when dining there.

"It 's not technically a secret menu item, but you need to let them know ahead of time (by at least a few days) if you want to order the Beef Wellington. You might assume that this means it is of a quality that is uniquely exquisite, and I can assure you that this assumption is 100% correct. This dish is literally made in part by a pastry-chef, and the moment you take a bite of the absurdly-delicate shell of I-don 't-even-know-what, you 'll understand why you have to arrange for this sort of treatment: it 's like an opera in your mouth. Underneath that mantle of what I assume is an elevated form of dough reserved for the better seats in heaven, there is a mushroom duxelle that I 'm quite certain would qualify for the dictionary entry if you were to look up the word unctious. Then, the filet. Is there an adequate word in the English language for a perfect medium-rare steak? The best part is that you actually have to be reminded that you 're eating an exquisite piece of beef underneath all of these charms, and it 's only responsible to forewarn you that dipping it in the au jus with which it 's served might just awaken you to a level of luxury you will struggle to equal in other establishments. I won 't even mention how good the wagyu-truffle ravioli was, or how their wedge-salad is served with fully a 3 oz triangle of delicately veined roquefort (bleu cheese) and bacon-bits made of *actual, perfectly cured smoky bits of bacon*. Point being: if you eat meat, this is something you should put on your bucket list. You 're not going to find a better meal anytime soon, after all. 10/10, would recommend."
