"Sit back and grab a drink, folks. This is going to be a long one. I made reservations for our 16th wedding anniversary this past Friday during a vacation. We aren 't Resort people but do like fine dining and do it frequently. The first surprise was the $25 non-guest valet charge. There was self parking available... somewhere in the distance. The nearest lot was for valet only. We paid the $25. The resort lobby was quite attractive, but the atmosphere was not carried into the restaurant. Grey. Open duct work ceiling, nice lighting, but bare walls. No flowers either. It 's just a generic, square grey room. We prefer a warmer atmosphere, but OK, maybe chef wants the focus on the food, not the room. Menu choices were OK, but other than 4 or so steaks, somewhat limited. She ordered a the filet medium $58) and I, the Prime Kansas Strip medium $82) and we added whipped potatoes $13) and grilled asparagus $14) No apps. Each of us ordered a flight of 3 wines $22 $26). The meal arrived in a reasonable time. The filet was the typical size but undercooked. Medium is pink, not the red of medium rare. This was rare. Accompanying the steak was an enormous head of grilled elephant garlic. Not sure what to do with that. My Prime strip wasn 't too appealing looking on arrival, but I dove in any way. I 've eaten a lot of steaks in my days at all sorts of establishments. I know the difference between Prime and Choice. While cooked properly, this was certainly no Prime cut. Frankly, I 've had better cuts at chain restaurants. I wouldn 't pay more than $15 for it in a diner. Perhaps 3 bites had any flavor and tenderness. The rest for an $82 steak) was just flavorless meat, tough gristle and bitter disappointment. The sides were fine but cold. How hard is it to get that right? We pushed through and ordered the Key Lime Trio $14) and a decaf coffee $5). Key lime Gelato, key lime tart, and a key lime donut. The trio turned out to be a duo because the donut was MIA. We 'd have asked, but our server was focused on new arrivals. So, the final bill was $266 for two and a great disappointment. Admittedly, I am a steak snob. At these prices, I expect a fantastic steak that I will think about for days afterward. Parking: $25 for valet!"
