"This cramped, crowded family restaurant makes for a great meal. If you're just passing by, don't be scared by the wait believe me, it's worth it! The omelets are incredible, and the barely fried home fries are simply one of the charms of the restaurant. The staff, the majority of whom is part of the original family of Louis', are incredibly efficient, not to mention caring. And not to mention the art! The mishmash of license plates, oil paintings, and black and white portraits makes for a cozy and welcoming atmosphere."

The food is good. Love the veggie omelette, and the french toast is super soft. The only thing is we went there when it was busy and we waited 50mins (no kidding) for our food. View menu

The homefries lacked flavor and were unappetizing. The coffee tasted burnt and there was no cream or sugar provided on the side. The bacon seemed old and reheated. Overall, the dining experience was unpleasant.

Friendly people, you can see and feel the history of this tiny joint. Good breakfast sandwich but skip the home fries (they just slice a potato and pan fry them, so they are fairly tasteless). You’re probably better off ordering the food to go.

First time here I ordered early for the take-out because I heard they are usually busy. I ordered the Johnny's Omelette and the 3s Special. Honestly, favorite job was the omelet. The waiter was extremely creepy. They have poor service with the exception of a sweet young girl who is quite attentive. When we tipped her the other staff Were unkind toward her. The food is low quality. They use canned mushrooms. We waited 30 minutes for the waiter to return for our order after he attended to new patrons that arrived after us. The total was $60.00 for three small meals and coffee.

Louis is a portal to a better world. I worked here 20 years ago and came back feels like being transported to a simpler time. When I was a student at Brown, I learned my real lessons at Louis: patience, service and work as a prayer form. Johnny, Albert and family have been feeding East Side Providence for generations, and this restaurant is located in the heart of the community. Simple food, classical music and true love.
