"When I called to discuss the issue, the person who took my order accused me of not being truthful. I can understand that they deal with many customers, but being called a liar was infuriating. I wanted to go back for a full refund, but I held back since my kids were home from college, and I didn’t want to spoil our anniversary lunch. To add to the disappointment, the food wasn't even that great. The Butter Chicken was just okay, but the Tikka Masala was absolutely awful—more buttery than the Butter Chicken, can you believe it? We paid extra for food that was subpar. I asked for a manager to call me, but no one reached out, and my email went unanswered. The combination of bad food and terrible customer service has left me frustrated. I won't be ordering from this restaurant again."

When we arrived at Namaste, the restaurant seemed quite empty, which was amusing.

We were the only patrons in the restaurant, which was a bit disappointing because the food was quite good. However, there were many delivery drivers coming in to pick up online orders. The pani puri was excellent, and I appreciated the way it was served. The assorted platter featured a nice variety of chicken, lamb, and vegetarian appetizers. The spring rolls, unfortunately, were a little soggy and could have used a few more minutes in the fryer. I didn’t try the aloo tikki since it was filled with paneer (which I'm not a fan of), but I enjoyed the chole that accompanied it.

Concise and to the point: The service left much to be desired. Since I was ordering takeout, there wasn't much to observe, but when I inquired about various dishes, the waiter struggled to explain the differences in preparation. It may have been a language barrier, but it hindered communication. As for the food, I have never encountered such bland Indian cuisine in my life—I didn’t think bland Indian food was even a possibility! The samosas were passable, and the garlic naan was acceptable, but the chicken tikka masala was a disappointment. It lacked flavor, the chicken was extremely dry, and the sauce was watery. To top it off, my mango lassi was served in a small container instead of a cup...

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"My friends and I went to Cheesetique for restaurant week. We sat outside. The space was great, the weather was great. Upon arrival, it took a server about 15 minutes to come to our table, and that was only after a friend went inside to ask for someone to service us. The server who had served our friends, who had arrived 10 minutes prior, was bartending. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks came out relatively soon after. The food took a normal amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We got the watermelon, quinoa salad and truffle balls as apps. There was no dressing with the salad, just spinach leaves, watermelon, and quinoa. It was very basic. The truffle balls, although good, were balls of cheese. They gave huge cheese balls but only 3 tiny pieces of bread. We ordered a Mac and cheese for the table which was not salted very well at all. For the main course, we ordered gnocchi, pot pie, and braised beef. The beef and mashed potatoes were the best. The pot poe and gnocchi were not nearly salted enough. All the food came out 'warm ' at best. Dessert was fine. Overall, not at all worth the amount we paid for restaurant week. We were left disappointed. The service was slow. I do understand they might have been short staffed, but even waitresses who were not our servers looked as us, after being there for 15 min and walked past. We asked someone to get us water, which was never brought to us, so overall, disappointed in our dining experience, considering how much we paid."
